Jeff Perry blows off Sarah Palin as Tea-mate (Mass 'Tea Partier' now disowning Tea Party)
Boston Herald ^ | 9/22/10 | Edward Mason

Posted on 09/22/2010 4:38:49 AM PDT by nhwingut

Republican Jeff Perry, a self-proclaimed Tea Party member, said he doesn’t want former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to campaign for him because of the baggage she would bring, after dismissing the former vice presidential candidate as an “entertainer” in a TV interview.

“I don’t want to interject the debate over the national Tea Party with my race about my district,” said Perry, seeking to replace U.S. Rep. William Delahunt. “I’m trying not to interject a national debate that would distract from my message.”

No surprise here. Perry is one of Mitt’s pets.

Just got this in an email...I concur and I hope Perry’s solid conservative record will earn your support. He voted against Romney’s MA Health Care!
Perry misspoke and I think he meant to say ‘celebrity’.

Please read the following from the leader of the Plymouth Rock/Cape Cod & the Islands Tea Party:

A message to all members of Plymouth Rock/Cape Cod & the Islands Tea Party

I woke up this morning to a flurry of texts, emails, and voice-mails about what Jeff said regarding Sarah Palin’s support. I could say I’m very disappointed in what Jeff said, but given the nature of the press and their nationalization of this race, I don’t think there was a “perfect answer” that could be given by Jeff.

Mr “Slick” or “Smooth” would not be titles I would label to Jeff Perry. Would you want to back him if that’s who he was...a silver tongued suit? If he had answered that he wanted Sarah’s support, the headlines would’ve read, “Perry says he can’t win without Palin’s support!” If you have taken a little time to get to know Jeff, he’s going to win this race on the issues and principles that best represent the people of the 10th district.

Remember, we as Tea Party, are not so concerned with the candidate or their party affiliation. We vote “Principles First”! I’m not writing you all today to ask for your vote for Jeff Perry, that’s Jeff’s job. We just need to stay focused, and not get drawn way off course, by a deliberately deceptive media, that is trying to divide and conquer our cause over issues that have noting to do with our core values and our desire to take our government back!

We have two choices, more Obama fundamental transformation with Keating, or a strong NO vote against Obama with Jeff Perry. It’s your decision.

Thank you,
Michael Petrell

P.S. I have it on good authority that Jeff read and liked Sarah’s book.

It would be nice if he would just shut up about Sarah instead of trying to trash her.

Ungrateful jerk.

How many votes does this little twit think he is gaining by insulting Palin.

Even in MA, this could very welll be a net loss to him. What a stupid thing for this dude to say.

The Boston media must think this will cost him votes as well. That's why they're making an issue out of it.

Bail him out, Mitt! LOL.

Keating? of the “Keating 5” scandal a few years back? How could he still be viable? Crooks all.

The medias at every level skew the words that all candidates say, unless of course they are Obama liberals.

My concern follows the facts that Republicans often eat their own. The Democrats unify ... no matter who, what, when, where.. They vote solidly. There is dissention within the Republicans often. We/they could learn from the Democrats to compromise every now and then.

What is the verse “... strain at a gnat and swallow a camel” That describes the republicans of recent years.

Sarah is a breath of fresh air and all by herself has changed the game. Good for Sarah!

Compromise is an ugly word in politics. and it has accomplished many destructive laws, bills, ear marks, entitlements, etc. Knowing when to ‘hold em’ fast as Kenny Rogers song says, and when to ‘fold em’ is an art that Republicans could use some instruction regarding. MO

Sad for me to say ... after Clinton and the ensuing take over of power with the ‘Contract with America’, ... and the following screw ups with the republicans in power then, I decided they truly like being ‘second fiddle,’ it takes the ‘spotlight’ off them and they can claim too few numbers.

Cynical? Unfortunately, yes, until proved otherwise, I do hold this in the back of my mind still.

God help us in our day. in Jesus name, amen.

Replying ONLY to the article, which may, or not, be skewed - Has Mrs P ever made it known that she wished to campaign for Perry? Or has Perry, 'out of the blue', decided to invoke the name Palin to invite attention his way?

Mrs P is hardly an "entertainer". This remark cannot be ignored. Besides being an idiot, he's a prick.

Republican Jeff Perry, a self-proclaimed Tea Party member

That's what is going to keep him from getting elected, as well as his childish dig at Palin.

I live here in MA and worked for Perry in the primary. This move thoroughly pissed me off. I can tell you that at his Cape Cod office today the phones were ringing off the hook with people expressing their anger with Perry for his comments on Gov. Palin. He knows he stepped in it and has hurt himself in two ways 1. It alienates people like me who love Sarah. 2. His alienation of teapartiers gives the MSM the story they want to run.
Ughhhhh

” because it demonstrates a lack of polish and class ... which is what people in Mass. are attracted to?”

Umm, how many times did they vote the swimmer back in?

“Looks like Mitt’s man Jeff has some issues:”

Makes me wonder why we are not hearing about this. Is it because he is just not that interesting (a distinct possibility; I saw him on FOX the other day...yawn) or perhaps he is not that conservative a la Scott Brown. If Perry is really a conservative (as Christine O’Donnell and Sarah Plain are) he would be getting unshirted hell in Mass.

But the Romney “Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval” is evidently enough to keep the Lamestream media at bay. (Memo to Jeffie: That seal of approval may keep conservative voters at bay too)

He probably increases his chances doing what he did and Palin is a politician so she probably knows why. Sometimes things work that way.
