Whispers around Capitol Hill are the Defense Authorization bill was never meant to pass. Tuesdays cloture vote on the annual Pentagon budget went down in a 56 - 43 vote. The two Arkansas Democrats Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor both crossed party lines and voted with Republicans.
Tacked on to the defense bill were controversial measures like the repeal of the military policy known as Dont Ask, Dont Tell, the pro-amnesty immigration bill called the Dream Act, and allowing abortions on military bases.

Their base is always fired up. But they’re real shaky with the independents, now. If they’re trying to assure that the base turns out, they’re in deep doo-doo, and they know it.
Everyone knows that.
It was so Democrats could make commercial ads for the elections....
Publish the list of democrats who voted against don’t ask don’t tell repeal. Let their base see who voted in which direction.
Blanche Lincoln is in trouble and she knows it!
I’m kinda wondering how my marxists voted. Stabenow’s office said she was on the fence this morning.
Could be. But they’ll lose just as much of their base who will be mad at them for not passing these two things.
She is burnt toast here in Arkansas. Can’t happen soon enough. Pryor will be next on the list.
If 73% of American support the Arizona law on immigration, then I believe that same number would oppose giving amnesty to ANY illegal aliens—except for ones who volunteer for the military (I do support that—but I thought we were already doing that). No one’s going to get fired up for this bill other than the illegals’ organizations.
>> to fire-up the base...
Maybe the GOP should propose legislation for a memorial perimeter around Ground Zero.
I am so, so, so grateful that Scott Brown won back in January.
Just imagine all the garbage Obama’s Crew would have passed by now! Brown’s election totally gummed up the gears in the Democratic legislative machine.
Every Democrat senator up for reelection who voted for cloture should have that vote used against them. This shoudl hurt Reid.
Not a big fan of saddling the troops with a bunch of pidgin-English speaking folks with third grade educations.
Considering how seemingly easy it is for some illegals to obtain "documentation" from certain countries of origin, I'd seriously be concerned about the backgrounds of these folks, as well.
I went to VN with some of these and they turned out to be fine soldiers.
Badmouthing ‘pidgin-English speaking folks’ who are willing to fight for us is unworthy, at least..
Safety issue. I had to work on jets with people I could barely understand.
And if Mexicans want to fight, they can demonstrate it by fighting to take back their own country.
I picture Barack doing like Chevy Chase in Vacation, nodding his head a few times then saying, "Ok, let's go!"
Heads up democraps,,,got a kid to donate???
Duh.
