LAKE MARY, Fla. – A Florida father wept as he apologized at a news conference for storming onto a school bus and threatening children onboard because his 13-year-old disabled daughter had been bullied. James Willie Jones' voice cracked during the appearance Tuesday. He said he himself was acting as a bully and no parent should copy his behavior. He says his daughter suffers from cerebral palsy and he "could not stand by and helplessly watch her suffer." Standing by his wife, who also wept, Jones apologized for how he handled the situation. Jones was charged last week with disorderly conduct and disturbing a school function for the Sept. 3 incident. He posted $2,000 bail and was ordered to stay away from the driver and county school buses.

The only issue here is ... will any of this keep the young lady from being harassed on the bus?

Had it been my kid doing the bullying not only would he not have to apologize to me, I would apologize to him and also explain that my kid would be sitting in pain for a week after I got done with his behind.
Some things you just have to turn a blind eye to within reason, a father defending a handicapped daughter he loves from bullies is one of them IMHO.
Bullies don't do what they do in defense of the helpless and innocent.

MY child would be at their front door, knocking politely, to APOLOGIZE for bullying a defenseless youngster.
His daughter will know no peace now.
Folks these days apologize for doing the right thing, and take pride in doing the wrong thing.

The bus driver stood by and did nothing. I think the guy did right, he defended her and let the bullies have a little taste of fear.
Screw with a man’s daughter, you just might pay a price. It leads to a better society. This needs to happen more,, like when a teacher makes young girls lick condoms in sex ed class, etc.
At least he’s remorseful. However, I still hope the judge throws the book at him. Adults shouldn’t be able to get away threatening to kill children, period, end of story.
It’s a sad state of affairs when a father can’t threaten to whoop a bully’s @ss!

My inclination is to defend the father, and excoriate the school and bus system for neglect.
He would not ever have to apologize to me. If my kid were on that bus and one of his daughters tormentors that child would know the wrath of God!
Jones told deputies the boys had placed an open condom on his daughter's head, smacked her on the back of the head, twisted her ear and shouted rude comments at her, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office report shows."
Jones previously complained to School Administrators who chose to do nothing about the problem.
I can understand how the Dad snapped.
I believe that the school authorities should be forced to apologize for "failing to handle" the situation. I sympathize with this man and abhor the position that he was placed in. If I had a handicapped child (or any child for that matter) who was being bullied, I would probably have behaved very much as he did. Now that he has been brow-beaten into confessing the sin of attempting to defend his child, the school authorities are off the hook and they are now in a position of being able to point to him as the guilty party.
This whole thing stinks as far as I'm concerned.
