The new Fox News poll of the Delaware Senate race shows Democratic nominee Chris Coons continuing to enjoy a double-digit lead against Republican Christine O'Donnell.
The numbers: Coons 54%, O'Donnell 39%. The survey of likely voters has a ±3% margin of error. There is no previous Fox News poll of this race. However, this poll was conducted through a Rasmussen offshoot, Pulse Opinion Research, which performs made-to-order robopolls. The previous Rasmussen poll from last week, taken right after O'Donnell's upset win in the primary over moderate Congressman Mike Castle, gave Coons a lead of 53%-42%.
This poll also confirms the conventional wisdom that Republican voters threw away a certain pickup of this seat. The poll asks voters to suppose that Castle had been the GOP nominee -- and in that match-up he leads Coons by a whopping 48%-33%. In addition, only 33% of respondents said that O'Donnell is qualified to be a Senator, to 60% who say she is not qualified. This compares to a 59%-27% margin for Coons, the county executive of Delaware's largest county, which contains a majority of the state's population.
The TPM Poll Average gives Coons a lead of 53.7%-39.3% against O'Donnell. And just for comparison, the average for a Castle-Coons race gives Castle a lead of 46.4%-35.4% over the Democrat.
Why? because she misspoke and said, "brains" instead of "brain cells"? You here on the other hand, are not merely misspeaking under the O'Reilly lights, but after having had plenty of time to think about what you are writing you decide to transform what was in her case an obvious VERBAL gaffe into a grotesque caricature of "the mouse with the human brain", as if she believed in such a thing.
Which is worse, a verbal gaffe, or a conscious and deliberate or negligent misrepresentation?
Exactly.
I like”
Witchcraft is scary for a high schooler to be interest in.
What is worse, is an adult running the country into the ditch.
i think she can do it. she has time, money and a flawed opponent.
They have to pretend to veer right.
What we need is for Mike Castle to run as an independent and split the liberal vote.
I agree. A Mike Castle write-in campaign would split the Liberal/Dem vote.
This looks good to me. If Coons were ahead by 20 or 25%, it would be a problem. He should be ahead by that much and isn’t.
So...we have a good chance.
I think it is all Get Out the Vote (gotv) now.
The MSM and FNC has gone anti-citizen. She is not ready because she is not a dezien of DC? she is not ready because she had the same problems as citizens outside the beltway?
Voters should be asking, “who is most like me?”
It was not castle.
It is definitly not Coons.
We must also remember that those people have never had a conservative option in an election; they've had their choice of liberal Dem or liberal Republican, and DE has a large percentage of independents.
I predict the O'Donnell will be leading within two weeks, IF the GOP establishment will back off and let her run just against Coons and the Dems.
“fyi, the witchcraft story dates back to when she was in high school.
And IIRC, it consisted of playing with a Oijia Board. Hell, I knew a number of girls that played with those things in H.S. It was just teenage silliness. Nothing sinister.
More money doesn’t always win. Money=victory is basically a Marxist view. Dozens of personally rich candidates have lost, and even more aspirants with more campaign money have lost.
Money does help—pays for TV ads, telephone calls, posters, and staff; reimburses volunteers. But we all know cases where campaign donation money was utterly wasted.
Money only helps getting the message out. If O’Donnell does not do a good job with her message to swayable voters, our money will not do any good. Money is not the measure.
No political movement bats 100%.
I will not give up on CO until the returns in Nov. (unlike many here that live and die by polls).
Maybe as a life long Repub,I know that lesson all to well.
Had to put up with the National Party picking my candidates for me. Well that is not the case now. I am willing to accept one loss (Del. in NOV), to throw the towel in on the TPM.
The BIG wins in OH,ILL (state sweep) and other House wins are what is important.
I know the msm is trying to use CO as some sort of weapon against ALL TP Backed Candidates, but as usual, they are missing the target.
“witchcraft being scary, but not compared to what the Dems are doing to our country”
Backgound of people chanting “Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble”.
Calm mature voice while showing a picture of Chris Coons:
“You want witchcraft? How about my opponent who conjured up a 10% increase in property taxes, then a 25% increase and then another 25% increase in property taxes and now he claims that the county he is charge of managing is nearly bankrupt. If that isn’t Black Magic, I don’t know what is.
Cut to picture of Cod smiling:
“Vote for Chris O’Donnell. Stop the tax coven in the Senate now.”
Does that include Harry Potter?
Does that include Harry Potter?
Sure, the GOP could, and those people won't run because they know the odds are they will lose - at least that was the considering back when it was time to decide whether to jump in. And the Delaware GOP can't just order Castle not to run as it is their job to win seats and Castle could actually win. It's not like you can just go get a random businessperson. Had anyone but Castle entered, Beau Biden would have run and been a shoe in. He bailed because he knew Castle would be favored.
I'm not sure people really understand how this works. Great conservatives are out there, but these are usually not professional politicians. They have to weigh whether there is a chance to win, whether they can put their lives on hold, whether they can put their family through the ringer of running for office. O'Donnell actually IS a professional politician - she seems to be a candidate constantly.
It really just isn't as easy as people seem to think. Castle was going to win. O'Donnell is not. We've made our point, we can hope Christine does well. The reality is that Coons will almost 100% likely be the next Senator from Delaware.

Exactly, The last thing we need is a KNOWN RINO being elected. IF the Liberation Theology Marxist wins, HE WILL BE IN THE MINORITY.
