Congratulations are due to Freeper BigBobber for the impact he has had with his post to Free Republic on Friday evening about Barack Obama omitting our rights come from our Creator when he recited part of the preamble to the Declaration of Independence in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus last week.
BigBobber, who has been a Freeper since the Sore Loserman days of November 2000, shows how Freepers are still impacting the national political debate even as Free Republic marks its 14th anniversary on the Web this month.
Since BigBobber posted his report at 8:40 p.m. EDT Friday night, news of Obama's omission has made its way all through the blogosphere, starting with our friends at Weasel Zippers and culminating today with it leading the first hour of both Rush Limbaugh's and Sean Hannity's radio shows.
Rush noted that Obama accurately quotes the preamble in one of his books, so it's not like the phrase is unkown to him.
In his post, BigBobber quoted Obama and commented:
So let me close by saying this. Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. To British and French, to Dutch and Spanish, to Mexican -- (applause) -- to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land. We didnt always get along. But over the centuries, what eventually bound us together -- what made us all Americans -- was not a matter of blood, it wasnt a matter of birth. It was faith and fidelity to the shared values that we all hold so dear. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights: life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
This is one of the closing paragraphs of President Obama's speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on September 15, 2010. Caught a clip of this on the radio and I was amazed when he left out "by their Creator" when quoting from the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence.

I'm surprised this has not created a stir - perhaps lost in the election results new the last few nights.
For reference, here is the actual first sentence of the Preamble:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

He says it very slowly and deliberately - does not look like he mis-spoke.
A search of Google Blogs shows a couple blogs noted Obama's omission of the Creator on the day he gave the speech, but there was no pick up from them that day, the next day and no mention of the omission on Friday until BigBobber did his thing Friday night.
The White House press corps, as usual, had its head so far up Obama's TelePrompter it did not report Obama's omitting the Creator from the Declaration's preamble, leaving it once again to a Freeper to report the news.
This crap goes hand in hand with the chief commie's lament about our Constitution and negative rights. The commie bastard wants to destroy the foundation of both documents: that rights pre-exist the state, that they transcend the state, that there are powers beyond that of the state. Authoritarian commie bastard.

Obama will deny this tomorrow via Gibbs. He will say he read his teleprompter wrong or some ridiculous excuse.
No surprised Obama left it out.
This is the unique idea that underlies everything our country is built upon. It is what seperates America from the rest of the world.
Our rights are endowed by our creator. Envison the creator however you want: God or whatever. The underlying principle is that individual rights are granted by an authority that is higher than the government, and thus the government can not take those rights away.
In the 1700’s kings ruled by divine right. What that meant in a practical sense is that individual rights flowed from down from God to the king, then down to individuals. Thus the king could grant and revoke individual rights.
In modern times the government and atheism has replaced the king and God, but the concept of rights remains the same. The government (via a constitution or or ther state created document) grants individual rights, and the government can revoke individual rights.
The United States still stands unique in the world on this subjet. THE (yes THE) core foundational principle our entire society is founded upon is this single idea. That individual rights flow from God directly to individuals, totally bypassing any king or government. That because our individual rights are granted in this manner, by an authority superior to any government, they can never be revoked or limited by any government.
This is why the left MUST control the internet.

I think you need to think more; and maybe a little deeper. Recognition of the Creator as the source of our rights is absolutely vital.
I think it shows that Obama thinks G-d is not worthy of notice.
