When are people going to realize that the NRA is NOT affiliated with any political party? They back whoever they see as the most pro-gun candidate, period.

...and when is the NRA and their slow-to-catch-on sycophants going to realize that backing a pro-gun {snort} Democrat and helping her acheive victory will ENSURE that said Democrat's first order of business will be to vote for the likes of Pelosi for speaker and all manner of other cretins for committee heads. Does the NRA seriously think that THAT is a prescription for a healthier 2A?

It's become plainly obvious that the NRA's agenda is not a healthy 2A, it's a wealthy NRA. They cannot thrive without the political friction and they'll do anything to maintain it.

People in the PA 10th District know who Carney is and what he stands for( Pelosi) . The gun owners and hunters in this Pennsy neck of the woods will not vote for the fraud Carney turned out to be even with the backing of the NRA.

“True, or supposedly so. However, I would like to see them consider the larger picture.”

I would suggest working with the organization to make that change rather than abandon the most influential pro-gun organization there is.

I like GOA. The NRA lost the plot when Chuck Heston stepped down.

LaPierre took the fight to Clinton but he has become Obama’s lap dog. Sickening.

The “grass roots” of the NRA needs to understand how, and through whom, the left invaded the board of the NRA; and if they can’t oust them, then the mass of NRA membership needs to leave, take their dues with them and start a new organization.

“Will the election of a democrat over a republican be more likely to keep a rabid anti-gun liberal as the Speaker of the House?”

This is the Issue for me.

If Both candidates have a Pro 2A voting record But one of them also voted for the Anti 2A Speaker, Why would the NRA support the one that is giving Aid and Comfort to the Enemy?

It s best to work with both parties. Do you seriously think that a RAT party full of pro gun folks in the house and senate doesnt reduce the probability of getting anti gun bills passed? What incentive do the rats have to run pro gun candidates if they have no chance of getting NRA suport? Being a one party organization is STUPID and SHORT SIGHTED. As much as I loath Pelosi, with a house packed with pro gun RATS she is effectively neutered on the gun issue. Besides, pro gun RATS will likely be more conservative and less likely to support Pelosi for Speaker.

Dear NRA(from a LIFE MEMBER),Please stop being a ONE ISSUE ADVOCACY!

Huh? What should a one-issue advocacy organization do if not advocating one issue? If you want a multi-issue advocacy group, they are out there, Heritage Foundation, ACU, et. al. They aren't called the "National Rifle Association."

Good job. ALL of TV is so anti-American. Every other commercial is the “dumb white guy.” It is all so pro-Obama. I listen to Rush and a few others but the on the hour news I mute. 24x7 propaganda.

The Onion and Pravda are more accurate. I used to enjoy reading some of their opinion “columnists” for The Onion like Jean Teasdale and Jim Anchower.

http://www.theonion.com/section/opinion/

LOL! Here is a good one: “Guy in Bar Complians About his Job Turns Out to be Eli Manning” LOL!

http://www.theonion.com/articles/guy-at-bar-complaining-about-his-job-turns-out-to,5842/

Sadly The Onion even has lib bias.

Amen, although I must admit that this one seems a little harder to defend than most, as the Republican is supposedly just as pro-gun; but the NRA has always had a pro-incumbency bias (which is fine with me tactically).

“They back whoever they see as the most pro-gun candidate, period.”

They have become so pro-gun as to shoot their own foot off, given that the candidates they are supporting (with our membership dollars) regularly support socialist/marxists, who are anti-gun. They support these people, as opposed to pro-gun republican candidates, republicans, who have been pro-gun since the party’s conception. NRA has been either infiltrated, or become so arrogantly out of touch that they need the tea party treatment themselves, and it sounds like they are going to get it.

Dream on. Betsy Markey, endorsed by the NRA, also opposed Obamacare the first time, but caved to party pressure to flip and vote yes on the final vote.

Her opponent, Cory Gardner, has actually moved pro-Second Amendment legislation in the General Assembly and is solid. Markey is "the most pro-gun candidate"??? Only on Planet Obama.

The problem is, they support dems and repubs when they are both pro 2nd amendment.

But the dem supports the dem machine, and the machine is certainly NOT pro 2nd amendment.

The NRA strategy is working. The Dems have had the House, Senate and White house for nearly two years and how many gun control laws have passed????

None
Zero
Zip
Nada

The NRA has served it’s cause and members well.

The NRA is way too comfortable with the inside the beltway crowd and they’re getting comfy using the money of the members they’re supposed to represent. They need to be reminded that when you dance with the devil the devil’s gonna lead.

What Democrat doesn’t vote in a block to curtail our Liberties in any way they can? We had a good example of the “block” when they voted for Obamacare. The NRA knows this as well as I do. The 2nd Amendment is just another right to take away and they know that also. What bull.

FYI - I just posted this on a similar thread:

I understand the frustration of many on this board; but I also find some of the comments to be sophomoric. Just think about it. Ds have had total control over the past 20 months. Gun rights are about the only conservative issue that was not attacked via Federal legislation over the past 20 months. Why?

The primary reason that anti-gun legislation has not come up is because there are a few pro-gun Ds. Those few pro-gun Ds would have abandoned their pro-gun positions if the NRA had refused to back any D candidates.

The NRA policy is effective because they stand true to it: any incumbent who has voted with the NRA will receive the endorsement. If the NRA were to waiver, then they would lose political clout among both D and R politicians. Without the carrot of a future, guaranteed NRA endorsement, the few D pro-gun members in Congress would have agreed to vote for some anti-gun rights bill.

I undertand the frustration but we need to understand that the process isn’t and can NEVER be foolproof. No one in the legislature is a one issue candidate or immune to pressure from the leadership. You do the best you can. Not all pro gun repubs are guaranteed to vote the right way. I think that overall the organization has done a good job and is the MAIN reason we still have ANY guns. Its stupid for people to abandon it because they disagree with a few decisions.

this session isn’t over yet. If they had a large enough majority, we would be looking at a renewed AWB and federal legislation that effectively reduces ammunition availability by microstamping. Party leadership has stated that they want these and other measures but don’t want to endanger democrats running in pro-gun districts. When they have nothing to lose, they’ll try again because they won’t have these numbers again for a generation. A dime to a democrat is money that will go toward a party with a record that is hostile to the RKBA.
