Gingrich Admits to Affair During Clinton Impeachment
ABC News ^ | 3/12/07, 11:08 AM EDT | JAKE TAPPER

Gingrich married his second wife, Marianne Ginther, months after he divorced Battley in 1981. According to Battley, Gingrich discussed divorce terms with her while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery.

"There are things in my own life that I have gotten on my knees and turned to God and prayed about," Gingrich said.

Gingrich also acknowledged cheating on Ginther while leading the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton for allegations of perjury involving the Paula Jones sexual harassment civil case and the president's affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Gingrich argued that the Clinton case was different from his personal transgressions.

"The president of the United States got in trouble for committing a felony in front of a sitting federal judge," he said, arguing that Clinton had "deliberately committed perjury."

Constantly espousing family values even while he carried on an affair, Gingrich linked his party to wholesome family values and Democrats to, well, something else.

Gingrich divorced Ginther in 2000 and soon married his third wife, Callista Bisek, a former congressional aide who was in her 20s when she and Gingrich began their affair.

I don’t really care that he was poking anything with a pulse. What I care about is the fact that he seems to be progressive in nature. He can screw whores all day long as far as I care, but don’t screw the country Newty.

Newt Gingrich is dead to me, because he is a phony with respect to spiritual, personal and political behavior. JMHO

I don’t think he’s that progressive.

I do think he’s an opportunist, though.

That was a stroll down memory lane. I felt like I was “cut and pasted” back to the ‘90s.

Romney’s zinger at the end wasn’t bad.

Sure am glad we’re bringing some new blood into the party.

I thought that as well until I saw his fat ass sitting on a couch next to Madam Pelosi informing me that I needed to do my part for Global Warming. Not very Conservative concept in my view.

Like I said, if you think this is mild, read Gingrich’s interview in Esquire. I don’t have a problem with Jake Tapper writing this story. Mr. Gingrich’s problem is he’s never met a camera of microphone he didn’t like. The man can’t stop talking about himself!

Forget about how smart you think he is. He’s turned into a caricature of himself. A few days ago, this guy had the “stones” to address the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit, talking about the “establishment Republicans”, and then does this interview with Tapper? What kind of deranged fool does this? He personifies the establishment!

Mark Levin said it perfectly; Gingrich is a phony, undisciplined, pseudo-conservative. This “old guard” of GOP leadership needs to be purged of people just like Newt.

Newt is right. I’ts totally different from Clinton’s courtroom imbroglio. That said, a serial cheater is not a man I want in a leadership role for a political party. That’s a big reason why I’m not a Democrap.

I feel sorry for Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren. They’ve promoted Newt and had him on their shows a bazillion times.

Newt, it’s time to write your memoirs, walk the dog, get in some fishing and play ball with your grandkids.

You’re done.

Don’t slosh the water you’re carrying for the Dems.

The rest of us realize that the sex angle was all a diversion from the fact that Bill Clinton perjured himself to get out of criminal charges for a violent crime.

The fact that its “old” is irrelevant. I look at the context in which the story was written. Gingrich clearly is not a conservative.

Are you for real? I’m carrying water for Democrats? Let me tell you a little about me:

I’ve been an active posting/commenting member of FR since the summer 2000. I’m a 20-plus yr military service member currently deployed to Afghanistan and I’ve deployed in support of every major military operation since the invasion of Panama. I may not be the smartest guy in the room, but I’ve been around long enough to know Democrats don’t have the best interest for me, my brothers-in-arms, or my country at heart.

I’m a lot of things, but I’m sure as hell not a Democrat. Now if you’re willing to look past a man’s poor character and see him as a serious leader or Presidential candidate, then perhaps you need to reevaluate your definition of Conservative.

In the Air Force, our motto starts with “Intergrity first”. If there’s no integrigty, there’s no need to go further. A man without intergrity can never be in a position of trust or leadership.
