Well that is a pretty worthless article.

There was absolutely no information in it.

I think they’re being sucked back by the imploding black-hole that is Obama’s popularity....

What is NASA doing spending time on that when their job is Muslim outreach?

How much do we now need to study this new force?

FWIW here's a little more.

Scientists tracking the distant probe (now some 11 billion kilometres from Earth), say that the probe’s speed, presently 43,400km/h, is being reduced by the force by almost 10km/h per century. Not much but entirely noticeable and worthy enough that scientists, like Dr Duncan Steel of Salford University, is speculating this cosmic tug could question whether we know enough about gravity, the universe and everything. The scientists said it could not be gravity or solar radiation, as they decreased over distance.

Uhhhhh, wouldn't solar radiation be trying to speed it up and wouldn't gravity be trying to slow it down?
Maybe the solar radiation (outward force) is less than expected at that distance and therefore gravity (inward force) is having a greater effect?

It's called "Chuck Norris."

That there has been an unexplained deceleration in the vectors of Pioneers 10 and 11 has been known for several years and has generated some interest. I knew someone had retrieved early data from obsolete computer hell to better analyze this and try to find a conventional explanation; the scientific article to which this virtually content free snippet refers likely reports on that analysis. Some earlier reports have given a rough range of the magnitude of the effect. IIRC and this continues the Pioneers will NOT escape the solar system as NASA had long predicted and touted.

Only the vast quantity of data on speed and distance in these two probes could have found this anomaly. Even the Voyagers couldn't show this, due to differences in their design. [I don't recall for sure, but I think its because one pair is spin stabilized and the other is not.] When this was first reported as an unexplained deceleration it was expected that careful analysis would find an overlooked conventional explanation; new science was a possible cause, but the least likely one. In context then, this article implies that more conventional possibilities have been ruled out and that exotic causes, like brand new (to us) forces of nature are being seriously considered.

Personally I think the adult civilizations in the universe slapped a quarantine on us to avoid bail out requests from Obama.

Friction is too obvious?

(There’s gotta be regions of gas out there - even on Earth we have giant gasbags like Obama and Al Gore.)

This is not new. Came out a few years ago. Looks like they don’t know all the answers, eh? If they had any sense, they would be questioning their precious equations, not looking for a “new force.”

I’m sure Al Gore will be able to make something of this in his global warming B.S. rant! Come on Al tell us this is proof that we’re destroying ourselves and we have to give you all our money to save us from ourselves!
