Excellent! States must balance their budgets. They cannot print money. If they cannot afford a service then move it in the private sector or get rid of it. If services are moved to the states the people will decide on whether they want to pay taxes for them.
The federal government has stepped waaaay over their limit of power!

I think "redistribution of power" is an apt response to "redistribution of wealth." Glad to see DeMint putting the issue on the table.

Bingo We Have A Winner! It is TIME to DownSize DC!
Close Entire Departments. (Education, EPA, etc)
Force Congress and Senate to telecommute most of the year from their home district under the thumb of the electorate and away from the lobbyists.
Can you imagine the reduction in cost of the government? And it would change the center-of-gravity of the Federal Government.

I'm starting to like DeMint more and more every day, and I'm beginning to wish that he makes a run for the White House in 2012.
As much as I like Mrs. Palin, DeMint is starting to look like just as good an option and if either runs, they get my vote.
My problem now is, I don't favor either over the other at this point.

Abolishing the Department of Education was a main campaign issue for Ronald Reagan, he did not accomplish that, but he did get the Double Nickel Speed limit abolished.
Point is Reagan himself ran into internal machines that he could not control. I would hope that now is a better time, because if we don't abolish it now, it will never happen, without a real revolution.

A great way to cut spending and to counter Dems who want to hike taxes in a weak economy. Finally, some common sense!
We never should have had a Dept. of Education and many other departments in the first place.
