I hope NPR/PBS and the like are under Dept of Ed. They claim it to be “educational” television (its anything but, except for an occasional token program).

A lot of powers should go back to the states. In fact the vast majority of them should.

the record is clear, America's decline in public education began with the advent of the US Department of Education. How can anyone deny it?

Our federal government should be no more than 20% - 25% of its current size.

National defense and maybe a few smaller departments but that’s about it.

"devolution..power to the states"

****************

Actually, this concept should be the only plank for the tea party--- it keeps all constitutionalists united- All else, can be fought out in the States.

asked on CNN’s “State of the Union” whether candidates whom he and the tea party movement have endorsed are too far out of the political mainstream.

Who is CNN to define "mainstream"? And then attack based on their definition?

Conservatives need to slap these people around and point out that conservatism, state's right and individual rights ARE mainstream America.

I'm really starting to appreciate Senator DeMint. Is he a prospect for 2012. He seams to have all of the right stands on the issues, but doesn't have the baggage that some of the other Tea Party favorites are carrying. The kind of candidate that everyone here can agree on, yet won't sell us out to the RINOs.

“the fact is, education probably would work a lot better without the Department of Education.”

Truer words about the state of education in this country were ne'er spoken.

Yep, all that land “administered” the US Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management should become state lands and these two inefficient, wasteful organizations should dissapear.

I’ve been advocating that for a while now. Of course, as this would be in line with the constitution, liberals will be rabidly against it.

Hear, hear!

And send the EPA, HUD, and Homeland Security along with it. We had plenty enough liberty-choking, liberal-bureaucrat-job-creation hideouts before they were created.
