Obama buoys DREAM Act backers

Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants received encouraging news this week when President Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., moved to open a path to citizenship for immigrants by supporting the DREAM Act.

Elysa Valdez, a sociology professor at Cal State San Bernardino, said action on immigration was overdue but appreciated.

"(Obama) needs to step up to the plate and do as he promised during the campaign, that he would address the issue and do some kind of reform plan," she said.

On Wednesday, Obama once again voiced support for the DREAM Act, which he has said was a good idea but should not distract from more comprehensive reforms. Reid said he plans to insert the legislation into a defense bill on Tuesday.

The Dream Act would allow illegal immigrants who entered the United States more than five years ago, at the age of 16 or younger, to become citizens by earning a college degree or serving in the military.

The legislation only covers immigrants who are younger than 35 and have attained a high school diploma or GED certificate.

The DREAM Act is a common sense place to start, according to Valdez.

"From an economic point of view, it makes sense to ensure that we have a highly educated population that doesn't live in the margins," she said. "Even if people don't think it's a good idea, they need to look at it in more of a pragmatic way."

“Immigrants?” More like illegal aliens who broke our laws by breaking into OUR country.

So, if I rob a bank, will the media say that I made an
“unauthorized withdrawal?”

It is so shameful that Demonrats alway, always, always use the Defense Bills to insert their evil plans and garbage.

"Hate Crimes" was in the last one.

This one has amnesty for illegals, abortion at military hospitals, and the endorsement of sodomy (repeal of DADT).

I don't feel I am an American anymore surround by fellow countrymen, but that I am a hostage behind enemy lines. Who votes for people like this?

Some of my fellow citizens are enemy combatants.

Everybody thought he was addressing U.S. citizens with that “hope and change” gimmick.

Sounds like they are going to try and bring in as many polarizing issues as possible to set Republicans up for account on their defeat or passage. They know they’re going to get creamed in November so why not make a bunch of commitments now and then blame or take credit after the elections.

Their politics are so shallow, more people should be made aware.

Who said Obuma ever swore to uphold the US Constitution? His presidential oath was botched and then he was sworn in during a private ceremony. For all we know he had his hand on a Koran.

This is a gift to Republicans. They can campaign on Democrat amnesty for the next 45 days. 80% of people want the immigration laws enforced and democrats do not.

As I said this is a gift.

This legislation is dangerous. It will be a huge amnesty. The legislation is so lax that almost anyone appearing middle aged will get amnesty. This legislation must be stopped at all costs.

No but the timing is all wrong for the dems. they know that if they support this bill as is, there chances of winning re-election is even worse. They also know that Obama does not care about their futures. they are sacrificial lambs with no future.

This Dream act amendment will go down in flames. It’s the wrong timing.

“I don’t feel I am an American anymore surround by fellow countrymen, but that I am a hostage behind enemy lines.”

Well, I still feel I’m an American, though most of the people around me do not and are not. I feel like an American who no longer lives in America.

This should make Americans even more angry than we were about “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” the last two times the elites attempted to shove it down our throats. It’s a lock cinch that the two years of college that provide illegals their eligibility for citizenship would be paid for not by the illegals, but by you and me, the taxpayers.

This is the Democrats not only getting their 12 million new voters, but at the same time subsidizing their base in the public education system (especially the junior colleges). It’s despicable, but what else should we expect from the Democrats?

Vote-starved Nevada Democrat Reid---sucking up to illegals--- said at a Capitol news conference that the DREAM Act is long overdue. He would not say whether he has the votes for it.

The Dream Act would allow illegals who attend college or join the military to become legal US residents. The illegal must have come to the US under 16 years of age and in the US five years. Those who join the military must serve at least two years and complete two years of college.

The Dream Act's goal is to allow illegals to ride the US gravy train for the rest of their lives---using tax dollars to undermne US national security.

We know from experience that putting hyphenates in our military is a formula for disaster. Making them citizens just for going to college is a Mexican wet dream. The illegals go to college scot-free, subsidized by working class Americans, and take up space from American students.

=======================================

Infiltrating the US to promote their hidden agenda-----Reconquista.

Reconquista shock troops at Phoenix Capital protest, May 29, 2010.

May Day Marchers plot to takeover the USA, shooting cops in the process.

SIGN: "You owe us America. We will shoot more Arizona police until we get free."

========================================

The Obama admin continues to tolerate this ntl-security nightmare of illegals using multiple identities for fear of offending the Mexican government, the National Council of La Raza, and other immigrant advocates....all of whom are providing Democrat voters to endangered Dems. This outrage is burdening taxpayers and polluting our election system----b/c these criminals adopt multiple fraudulent identities.

Keep in mind, all the evidence shows illegals establish several identities with phony SS nos and fake documents (which these "poor immigrants" buy from document brokers for several thousand dollars). Illegal parents get their anchor babies SS nos. They then use the SS nos to establish fake identities.

Reid is pushing the Dream Act to get all those fake identities to vote.

The Dems know the only way they can expect to be politically viable is to create millions of new voters from the ranks of those who entered, and are in, this nation illegally and those convicted of felonies. Even with votes from millions no longer living (many Democrat cities, including the one where I grew up, have been found to have more registered voters than residents), they expect to lose resoundingly in 2010. To them, the best way to counter that in 2012 is to dilute the votes of those they have alienated with "the largest voter registration drive in history," amnesty for illegals. The DREAM act, of course, compounds the wrong by not only giving the illegals citizenship, but those of college age an education (for which they doubtless will not be expected to pay.) Meanwhile, those of us who are citizens must pay well into five figures per year to send our children to state universities.
