UK: What do you think made you become a heterosexual? Just one of questions in "Diversity" course
The Daily Mail (U.K.) ^ | September 19, 2010 | Chris Hastings

Posted on 09/19/2010 12:54:50 AM PDT by Stoat

Town Hall bosses are asking staff to take part in a 'heterosexuality quiz' so they can gain a greater understanding of what it is like to be gay.

The quiz, devised by managers at Buckinghamshire County Council, is part of an equality and diversity course called 'Respecting Sexuality'.

Questions, which are described as a 'twist' on those routinely asked of homosexuals, include 'What do you think caused your heterosexuality?', 'Is it possible your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?', and 'If you've never slept with a person of the same sex, how do you know you wouldn't prefer it?'

(edit)

The Buckinghamshire council course is just one of a series of publicly funded equality and diversity sessions uncovered in a series of Freedom of Information requests by The Mail on Sunday.

Cardiff, Slough and Cheshire West and Cheshire councils have also incorporated quizzes in their sessions. In Slough, employees ask colleagues questions from a specially prepared grid such as 'Can you sing a few lines from a Supremes song?' and 'Do you read The Guardian?'

Staff at Cardiff City Council are challenged to name the inventor of the 'great British classic car the Mini', and to identify the symbol used to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

(edit)

'To see councils wasting money on such a ludicrous, politically-correct exercise in that environment is disgusting. 'Ensuring that councils don't discriminate doesn't require such insane attempts at a superficial understanding of different communities.'

I agree. Disingenuous, in that they are calculating.

They are calculated in a way to get people to just answer some simple, harmless questions about their beliefs, in simple, individual answers.

Is there harm in this? People should be able to, and enjoy, explaining their beliefs in their own words. Not words that they have been taught or have read somewhere, or think they have to say or quote. People should be able to talk about God and His mysteries without feeling the need to defend themselves.

NICE!

That cheered me this morning. Thank you for posting it. It grieves me beyond words to see the nation that produced Henry V. Elizabeth I, Rudyard Kipling and Douglas Bader become an island version of Albania.

Yup. Kinda like a poll question with a predetermined outcome.

Go back and look at around 104 to 115. I asked more than once, a question that only needed a yes or no answer. You did not answer with a yes or no, to any of them.

Even more disingenuous is promoting the homosexual agenda under the guise of exploring God’s Will.

They were not yes or no questions. You were and are trying to elicit a particular response. I have answered your questions. You don’t like the answers.

I could not care less for the homosexual agenda. I just would like people to answer some yes or no questions honestly, without feeling defensive. These are not attacks, just some questions. I am not trying to undermine anyones religion or beliefs. I truly don’t know why everyone appears so afraid to say yes or no to questions about God.

I truly don’t know why everyone appears so afraid to say yes or no to questions about God.

For one thing, answers about God are never just yes or no.

Secondly, that Lewis Sinclair quote on your homepage says you have an agenda. The most rabid lefty that I ever met online had that as their tagline on another forum.

When someone puts...’Right? or doesn’t He?’...at the end of a sentence, then yes, it is a yes or no question. They make a statement, then ask for validation or not. That is a yes or no question.

Nope. You have an agenda and I’m not falling for it. I have answered your questions with real, complete answers and that has foiled your trip down a planned path.

Yes they are, when someone asks a yes or no question.

‘God knows the future’...yes or no

‘God cannot be wrong’...yes or no

‘God creates us’...yes or no

‘God can do anything’...yes or no

Yes, the fact that God exists outside of time is a good point. To our time-bound senses that would appear as predestination.

Just asking you to answer some yes or no questions means I have an agenda? What is it?

How can you say you answered, when you never wrote the words yes or no, to the questions?

You play word games.

Post 141: You call it blame, I call it being responsible

Post 134: I just believe He is responsible for all things. Blame is negative, responsibility is just responsibility.

Post 124: I don’t blame God for anything, I believe though, that through His knowledge of the future, and His inability to be incorrect, He is ultimately responsible for all that happens.

It is a theme through your posts. You want to make God responsible for man's failings and I'm not taking the bait.

You’re not really hiding anything, and I think I’ve already responded to that.

Bait for what? Of course I believe God is responsible. I’ve been saying that all along. What horrible trap do you think you could fall into?

If you can’t or won’t answer a yes or no question, then at least man-up to it. I thought you may be capable of answering, otherwise, I’d have gone to bed an hour ago.

God sure gets a bad rap for that predestination stuff.
