Christine O'Donnell: "I Dabbled Into Witchcraft"
CBS News ^ | Dan Farber

Posted on 09/18/2010 6:47:44 PM PDT by counterpunch

Republican Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell doesn't need Facebook to dredge up her controversial past statements.

As a sometime conservative pundit a decade ago on Bill Maher's former show, "Politically Incorrect", O'Donnell said (in an appearance that wasn't aired) that she dabbled in witchcraft.

In the clip shown last night on Maher's current show, "Real Time," O'Donnell said:

"I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven. But I did, I did. ... I dabbled into witchcraft. I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do. . . . "

Bad choice of words, dabble.

But it clear what she is saying.

When young, she was searching for God IMO, and looked at many different religions and practices.

I did the same thing.

Went to Buddhist meetings, and they were teaching a chant “nom rio...etc something” that they said would bring you money.

Went a few times, saw that that wasn't the path to a relationship to God.

Went to Scientologist meetings, very interesting.

They would use out-of-body techniques to watch their children.

You know, sit in the house and astral project their spirit outside to see if the kids were behaving.

I was interested in going on their ship ministry, cause I loved sailing.

I wasn't eligible because of my use of a certain drug that they were frightened of. For good reason. LOL

I realized that wasn't a path to God, so stopped going.

I studied the JW’s for a year, went through he whole Bible study with a lady that came by.

Every time, she would cry and say she wanted a divorce, but they could only get divorced if one of the people in the marriage committed adultery.

So she was praying her husband would commit adultery so she could get divorced.

We spend most of the visits consoling and trying to get her to understand that she was going about it the wrong way.

I realized that wasn't a path to God, so stopped going.

I went to Mormon church for quite a while.

It seemed OK, but couldn't really find anything about it that seemed to be a path to God.

So I did a lot of research and discovered they didn't believe in Christianity and had a lot of real anti-Biblical doctrine including a different Jesus and the fact that they could become “gods.”

I learned that their secret handshakes and rituals were taken from the Masons (Smith was a 33 degree Mason when he left to form his “church” after denouncing all Christian organizations as being from the devil.) I thought all of that was quite wrong

I realized that wasn't a path to God, so stopped going.

I spent years searching until I eliminated all path to God except those contained in the Holy Bible. It looks like she did something similar.

So I see nothing wrong with Christine O'Donnell looking at other religions and practices and then realizing they were wrong.

The Establishment politicians (both dem and republican) as well as leftists and fearful GOPers will do anything they can to keep her (a good Conservative) from becoming a part of our Congress.

Heck, the GOP has made it clear you aren't a good republican if you don't support the winner in primaries (if they approve of the candidates) but they have no problem breaking that "hard and fast" when their liberal candidates get thrown out fair and square.

Man, true colors are popping out everywhere these days!

I dabbled into witchcraft

Should make her an excellent pick for the SCOTUS. She obviously has MUCH more experience than creepy Kagan.

And what’s the big deal, anyway? In 1994 the Republican takeover was led by a newt.

My suggested response:

“I dabbled in witchcraft, but I didn’t inhale.”

“I’ll be the only one to say it: I question the intellect of anyone, of any age, who at any time, believed witchcraft was even something real.”

That would include Louis Pasteur, who nearly died from a voodoo curse.

And if you want proof, my goodness — ever hear of Nostradamus?

There are many superstitions practiced by people to this day.

I suppose you don’t think much of Stonewall Jackson either who nearly killed himself using hydro-therapy.

Then there’s Nancy Reagan who believes in astrology [along with a huge percentage of the population].

Patton believed he experienced deja vu.

Not sure how serious you’re being but I’m comfortable in saying that:

Voodoo, Nostradamus, superstitions, liberalism and astrology are all equally useless garbage and those who practice/ascribe to/believe in any of them are intellectually deficient.

I’ll give a pass to those under the age of, let’s say... 15.

Your litmus test achieves two things: it thins out honest people [the vast majority of adults believe in the supernatural], and it thins out people who take history seriously. Joan of Arc, for example. Great way to size people up! /sarc
