The night Christine O'Donnell won the GOP nomination for Senate in Delaware, party stalwart Karl Rove flipped out, and warned that she was a liar, of ill-character, and generally not the kind of person that the party should get behind.
It only took an instant for other party leaders like Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin to flip out right back at him. But why did Rove take this tack? It's not because he's not into right-wingers

The only common denominator in this whole mess it seems is Mittens, and men who are hitched to him.
Maybe Rove is syphalitic.
Agree. Rove screwed the pooch. In his book he repeatedly tries to take credit for policies (e.g. compassionate conservatism) Dubya adopted. He’s like the rooster who takes credit for the sunrise upon his cock-a-doodle-do. Rove mentions how Laura would hang around when he visited the Governor’s mansion to plot strategery w/ Dubya. I sure she was just keeping an eye on the slimy little bastard.
His reaction was very unusual and clearly shows that there is a back story to what is going on. Wish we knew what it really is.
His reaction reminded me of a surprised rat trapped in a corner. It was far from a truly logical and balanced political analysis, which would have included at least a mention of her opponent's baggage(Coons) when assessing her chances.
Rove, Crist, Murkowski, and Castle need to start their own party. I’m betting it draws more from the Dems than the GOP.
I see what you mean. That article shows clearly too, just how this is nothing but a ‘game’ to them. Who wins, who is in what position etc. And is precisely why we are in the boat we are in.
“Strategists”, “Handlers”, “Architects”, “Insiders”.... Sarah Palin DESPISES them like a ‘Mama Grizzly’ despises intruders into her den.
I do agree with that, and I celebrate it! :)
Uniting with her would help her win... that's the point. She beat Castle, so obviously she had something going for her in the minds of the voters.
It’s not that. When he said it, She was already the winner. At that point there was no up side of trashing her except to help the libs beat her. He does not care if she loses. He wants her to lose. I can’t figure it out either but its not that he is just smart enough to see she can’t win. He is taking part in her losing. On purpose.
I do agree with you. I’m just not sure a lot of people aren’t making more of Rove’s comments than is there. But, I’m subject to being wrong. I have been before and I will be again. And I’m willing to admit that! :)
>>Guess who is on Fox News Sunday now that ODonnell has backed out? Yep, Bushs Brain<<
They were going to have both of them on before she opted out. Can you imagine the trap that would have been?
You more of a Hillary, Pelosi or Boxer type?
With Sean Hannity around to constantly give him air time, not a chance.
He pushed Bush on us,

What a completely inaccurate and grossly flippant characterization, as if Pres. Bush wasn’t the boss, even as he dealt with the WOT, 24/7, from 9//11 until the last day of his term, and promoted his conservative principles with a Democratic congress.
###
“Indeed, Bush arguably did more to advance conservative priorities than any president that came before him. Consider a few examples:
TAX CUTS. Bush enacted the largest tax cuts in history — and unlike my personal hero, Ronald Reagan, he never signed a major tax increase into law.
..
JUDGES. Bush has the best record on judges of any Republican president in memory his appointments of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito will be judged favorably over time compared to Justices Anthony Kennedy, Sandra Day O’Connor, David Souter and John Paul Stevens (all put on the high court by Republican presidents).
..
FREE TRADE. Bush enacted free-trade agreements with 17 nations, more than any president in history.
..
HEALTH CARE. Bush created Health Savings Accounts the most important free-market health-care reform in a generation. And he courageously stood up to Congressional Democrats when they sought to use the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to nationalize health care — and defeated their efforts.
..
SCHOOL CHOICE. Bush won a Supreme Court ruling declaring school vouchers constitutional and enacted the nation’s first school-choice program in the District of Columbia.
..
SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE. Bush was the most pro-life president in history, securing passage of the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, the Unborn Victims of Violence Act and the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act.
And Bush steadfastly refused to fund the destruction of human embryos for research — and was vindicated by the scientific breakthroughs that followed. No president did more to protect the sanctity of unborn life.”

Compare those days and relative sanity to what we face now.
This wasn’t about numbers
He almost lost two elections to weak Democrats, Gore and Kerry.
And he did lose the House in 2006 with his 'compassionate conservatism' nonsense.
The Democrats control all three brances of Government because of his 'skill's'
I’m with you.
Although I’d argue that those old fellows who all looked as if swallowing a sour grape...Krauthammer, Rove..., Castle himself...well dag, how’d you like to have these sourpusses up against the bright and very sincere smile of a Christine O’Donnell?
But I digress.
I think that Rove was somehow, someway, employed by the Castle campaign and THERE is the reason for the sour grapes.
although Rove would not, ahem, never, let his own personal fortune stand in the way of the Republican voters’ wishes or anything.
Seriously, I think Rove had a financial stake in it.
Krauthammer is an old blowhard who, in order specifically to avoid the title of blowhard, came out in 2008 with a bright smile as close as Krauthammer can come to such a thing, and declared that Obama was a very intelligent, charismatic fellow and would make a fine President.
Now that’s it’s only some sweet young thing with a smile that lights up the world elected all fair and square by the Republic ilk who carry their guns and bibles in their pockets....well now, hey, he can act like a real asshole.
Mike Castle, another guy with a smile brings out the sunshine on a cloudy day....well his reasons to bash O’Donnell are somewhat understandable.
Buncha old men pushed aside and they know, THEY KNOW, we’re ALL GONNA BE SORRY.
Bah humbug.
You don’t attack the nominee the day she has won and then continue to attack her!
No doubt about that.
