In the most anticipated speech at today's Values Voter Summit in Washington, Delaware's new GOP Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell ignited the Omni Shoreham ballroom with a tangible buzz. She strode onto the stage to Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," with orange spotlights sweeping the room. (None of the other afternoon speakers got a light show.) The packed crowd gave her an enthusiastic standing ovation, continuing to applaud long after she took the podium.

Romney’s apparently “qualified” because he gave Mass state run health care.

I’ll write in a candidate before I’d vote for Romney. I voted for McCain and wasted my vote. If I’d wrote in another name I would have at least have made a statement.

Oh man. Are you out of date. 8<)

She’s got a budget of over 1.1 million now. In two days. With NO fund-raising meetings or calls. To spend in just 45 days.

Didn’t Romney endorse her?

Yeah, and Washington isn’t broken. Washington is corrupt! It’s full of self-serving piggy banks that are a long way from being broken! It’s just that so many politicians have found out what the combination to all that easy loot is.

If the media stories about her are true (lawsuit, forclosure, joblessness, etc), than I can see reason for concern.

But I entirely believe those stories. And I think the most important thing is that RINOs and establishment people like Castle are being thrown out on their butts.

The whole governing apparatus is broken, and the Tea Party is aiming to fix it.

“Qualified” has nothing to do with it. O’Donnell is a Delaware citizen who wants to give power back to the people.

To quote William F. Buckley: I would rather be governed by the first two thousand people in the Boston telephone directory than by the two thousand people on the faculty at Harvard.

Same principle applies here.

"....and I think that says something. "

It either says your are retarded or that you can only adequately represent yourself. If you want things done your way, then do them yourself.

“I have never seen a poorer candidate.”

Rhetorical hyperbole has its place, but please!

The problems we are facing today are due to all of the “experienced” and “qualified” politicians being elected to office. If the founding fathers felt that the requirements to be a Senator was a long resume and a college degree from one of the ivy league schools then they would have made that a requirement to serve.

These are the only requirements laid out in the Constitution to be a senator.

at least 30 years old.
a U.S. citizen for at least nine years at the time of election to the Senate.
a resident of the state one is elected to represent in the Senate.
These are the only requirements for the office that are specified in Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution.

Since this is your “first time” why don’t you and Rove can it. Or, if you feel you MUST say something, tells us how qualified Coons is.

After she won. This piece from the also slimy Allahpundit should clear up their thought process:

Romney scum is always careful to cover themselves with meaningless gestures like that, so they can point to them later and say they are innocent. It’s astroturf 101.

They are doing this because the Liberal wing of the GOP Establishments thinks sabotaging O'Donnell discredits Palin and Demint.

It is really really stupid tactics but they are too arrogantly convinced of their own political infallibility to think this through.

If O'Donnell loses, EVERYONE in the Conservative base of the GOP is going to point at Rove and his GOP Establishment drones slanderous post primary attacks as what is to blame.

If she wins, everyone is going to remember that the GOP Establishment lead by Rove did their best to sabotage her.

Rove and the GOP Establishment mouthpieces face either ostracism from the Conservative base of the GOP as traitors or ostracism from the Conservative base of the GOP as irrelevant, non-credible cretins.

So either way the Roveites here are creating a lose-lose position for themselves with their daily trash talking about O’Donnell

Neither were the first ones elected to the Senate. they did OK. I am willing to try a fresh face and ideas. I am so sick of the elitist gasbags in DC spewing garbage - on both sides of the aisle.

“ROVE! Is that you?”

No. GOP_Lady is typically courteous, and she is loyal to Mitt Romney. Rove has no loyalties to anyone.

The defense rests.

Outing me as what and for what? For simply stating how I feel about a certain candidate and their qualifications?

Like I said, this is the worst candidate that I have seen since I have been voting since 1979. I have never said that about any GOP candidate ever, and it’s sad because I never thought I would.

Curious. I said it about Rove earlier, but isn't it a little precipitate to declare someone to be unelectable 24 hours after she has won an election?

That isn't smart analysis, and no wonder Rove backed off. This thing needs a week or two at least to stabilize enough to poll with any hope of reliability. Most of the voters in both parties don't even know who she is yet. They will very quickly, which is one reason the media are doing their best to poison the well. In doing so they have to give her publicity, which is the one thing a dark-horse candidate needs the most. My gut tells me this is likely to be closer than a lot of people are predicting at the moment. IMHO, of course.
