New Poll Brings Bad News For Cahill (MA gov)

The latest poll in the governor's race shows Gov. Deval Patrick and Republican challenger Charlie Baker running neck-and-neck.

But when the poll expands to included so-called "leaners" it's bad news for independent Tim Cahill.

According to the new Rasmussen Reports survey, Patrick leads Baker 42-to-38 percent. Cahill is a distant third with 11-percent.

But, when pollsters asked the undecided voters which candidate they're "leaning" towards, the numbers change.

Patrick leads Baker 45-to-42 percent, while Cahill loses more than half his support and drops to 5-percent.

The poll of 500 likely voters was conducted Wednesday, September 15. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 points.

Two weeks ago, before the debates started, Patrick led Baker by two points, 44-to-42-percent, while Cahill had eight-percent. Those numbers also included "leaners."

When leaners were excluded, Patrick led Baker 39-to-34, while Cahill had 18-percent.

As for Patrick's job approval rating in the Sept. 15 poll, voters are evenly split.

49-percent approve while 50-percent disapprove.

Deval’s left. Excluded from some debates)

Former Dem Tim Cahill, the outgoing treasurer left the Dem
party but some feel he could drain votes from Baker and
elect Patrick again. They say without Cahill, Baker
would be ahead. Signs of Democrat Tim Cahill: Took Dem
ballot in primary after hesitating and said he wanted to help some “pals” out. This after saying why he left
the Dem party. Make your mind up.

Patrick quite respectful of Cahill and kept saying he was right during debates. He needs him in this race.

Cahill got caught for not paying taxes for 8 years. He did pay up, when caught. How Dem is it?

Don’t worry, poor Timmy will be welcomed back if he helps
“No Ordinary Leader” Patrick to a second term. Or even if he doesn’t, he’ll become a Dem again.

A good many Cahill supporters are looking for someone who isn't a Democrat, someone who hasn't drunk the kool-aid, someone who would work against Obama's agenda ...

Unfortunately, these Cahill supporters think that Cahill is that guy.

And I do know many have concerns over Baker for various reasons, but voting Cahill means that most likely you get Patrick again. Better choice?

For all the democrats and independents that I can’t sway to Baker(not that he’s any good either - but he’s best) I’m in a concerted effort to have them vote for Cahill.

For those who say they are voting for Patrick - I tell them if they are they are voting on Wednesday (has worked in the past ;>)

I know this - I’m not voting in Baker & the Gay agenda. Not doing it, it looks like all Republicans for me with the governor choice left blank.

We as a nation need to start making some tough choices, an easy one is this - no fake marriages, no elective office to those that are confused as to the definition of marriage.

Just want Deval out of there. Anything is an improvement. Baker or Patrick can win. Cahill can’t, but could hand
it to Patrick. Stein’s numbers so small she can’t
really affect race UNLESS it’s so close, like within
a few hundred votes, maybe liberal opting for Stein
COULD swing the race to Baker.

This is MA, where the swing to conservatism may have to
take a long time, or it doesn’t happen at all. Would you have preferred:

It takes 105 members of the House joined by 27 members of the Senate to override a governor’s signature.

Do you really think Baker will be able to do much with that?

And what does Baker do in his VERY FIRST act on the way to the governership? He picks one of just five Republican state senators, further weakening the Republican card there, then he goes anti-family.

Imo it’s a false choice - Baker is not a conservative imho, not at all.
