Politics: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has hit a new low by slipping an amnesty plan for illegal immigrants into a defense funding bill. In effect, he's holding U.S. troops hostage to advance his own political career.
Longtime members of the Senate Armed Services Committee are shuddering at the way the defense budget has become a Christmas tree for political ornaments. Since last year, Democrats have used appropriations for U.S. troops in Afghanistan to attach riders that couldn't otherwise pass muster.
Now Reid has hung the ugliest ornament of them all — the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act — and has scheduled a vote on it next week.
"This is an all-time low for me being in the Senate, and that's saying something," committee member Lindsay Graham told Foreign Policy magazine. "The one area that's been kept off limits from partisan politics has been the defense of our nation. To say that you're going to bring up a defense bill and put the DREAM Act on it ... to me is very offensive."
But Reid, D-Nev., apparently couldn't care less. He sees a political payoff — for himself — by offering amnesty to the children of illegal immigrants via the DREAM Act in a bid to energize the Latino vote.
As representative of the state with the highest number of illegal immigrants (as well as the highest unemployment rate at 14.2%), Reid is hoping he can break away from Republican challenger Sharron Angle in his own dead-heat reelection race by delivering amnesty to that constituency.

Reid probably thinks this will endear him to the Hispanics in Nevada even though I doubt even he seriously thinks it will go through. Hopefully it will backfire and sink this dirty rat.
I had to pay full tuition out of atate. Why should these law breaking thieves get a break that I did not get? The good news is this will not pass. These Democrats will even run from this before or after the election. It is a new day in our America!!

This feculent tactic is CLASSIC Pinky Reid behavior!
Some years ago he used the same cynical scheme to force the “Black Rock Wilderness and NCA” down our throats.
The fact that no one in Nevada wanted it except for Dick Bryan and a few eco-nut extremist made no difference to Dingy Harry.
By doing this he permanently deprived Nevada and the entire U.S.A. of access to vital REE’s and prime geothermal sites.
That he happily embraces such ploys should not surprise anyone, he is the true extremist in the Nevada senate race, he will do ANYTHING to advance the sociali, “progressive” agenda.
He has employed this same means to force through several bills that would never have passed on their own merit.
THIS TIME I demand that the republicans grow a pair, sever this sedition from the main bill, along with the rest of the trash being hung on it.

Who are these “youth?”In the Senate DREAM bill, illegal aliens up through age 35 qualify! In the House bill there is no age limit at all.
These “young” illegal aliens would only need to claim (not prove) that they meet the criteria and meet at least the minimum of taking a a one-year vocational program to get on the path to citizenship. And there is NO REQUIREMENT that the person actually COMPLETES their education!”
Out and out overt treason, pure and simple.
Reid doesn’t do this alone.
He has orders.
And paymasters.
We know who they are.
