MoveOn.org: "Save Barbara Boxer" From my email inbox today
my email

Posted on 09/15/2010 5:16:38 PM PDT by FrdmLvr

Dear MoveOn member,

California Senator Barbara Boxer has been our champion in Washington for nearly two decades—but now polls show her virtually tied with a corporate Republican who wants to cut Social Security.1

A top environmental champion, she fought for a strong climate bill despite attacks by Big Oil and Coal lobbyists. She was a steadfast opponent of the Iraq war. And she's always been a passionate defender of a woman's right to choose.

On issue after issue, Boxer's fought on the progressive side—but now she's facing the fight of her political life against a Republican who's pouring millions of dollars of her own personal fortune into the race.

So it's time to get Sen. Boxer's back—along with other progressive heroes, like Sen. Russ Feingold, who are in tight races where MoveOn members' support could make the difference. That's one of the key elements in our big plan to stop the takeover, but to have enough resources for this intensive effort we need at least 3 more people from Livonia to donate today. Can you chip in $5?

Today we're announcing our list of Progressive Heroes. Besides Sens. Boxer and Feingold, it includes Rep. Alan Grayson and Rep. Tom Perriello. (Sen. Boxer and Rep. Grayson are the two candidates who received the most nominations from MoveOn members in our survey.)

Each is a bold champion who supported our Fight Washington Corruption pledge campaign and each is in a truly close race where MoveOn members' involvement could make the difference. Here's what MoveOn members had to say about them:

Sen. Barbara Boxer in California: "A proven progressive fighter, unafraid to take on corporations (or anyone or anything else)—and her opponent is a right-wing extremist who would be destructive to every progressive policy Boxer champions."2 Sen. Russ Feingold in Wisconsin:"The strongest, most longstanding voice of progressivism in the Senate. If we lose his seat, our caucus becomes much weaker without his bravery and willingness to do what's right regardless of whether it's popular."3 Rep. Alan Grayson in Florida: "The bravest person in Congress. I wish others had his vision and backbone." And: "He is not afraid and says what we wish ALL Democrats would say."4 Rep. Tom Perriello in Virginia: "A bold voice for progressive causes in a district formerly represented by a far right-winger."5 But to ramp up our efforts to defend these heroes who've stood with us, we need to raise an additional $170,000 for our Stop the Takeover campaign today. Thanks for all you do.

–Adam, Marika, Michael, Jeff, and the rest of the team

P.S. Here's some great news: Last night in New Hampshire, MoveOn-endorsed Ann McLane Kuster won big over a corporate Democrat in the congressional primary. We'll keep fighting to elect her in November.

If nothing else, we tea party types are making little Georgie Soros spend a lot of his money. And that’s a good thing.

You signed up for MoveOn? How soon do you shower after opening up your e-mails?;)

I signed up for the Communist Party - they don’t send many e-mails, they must be trying to save on stamps...

During the campaign, they offered a free 0bama pin if you signed up. I thought it would be funny to put a red slash trough it and wear it. They signed me up for their email. I have gained much insight into MoveOn. Yes, I get quite a bit of email from them. They’re always asking for money and looking for people to host events. I find out where a lot of their protests are, too. I post many of their emails on FR.

Save her? I wouldn’t pi$$ on her if she were on fire. She is a major architect of destroying America. Good riddance.

Opposition propaganda is a great source of information about what the opposition is doing. Somehow I got on one of Hillary’s lists and at least it gave me something humorous to read among all my many emails.

You know, this is kinda off subject... I was watching the History channel show Earth 2100 for a little while last night, it was a typical liberal nightmare about corporate meanies, cranky conservatives, and how the planet was going to get even with us some day soon. The planet was going to boil over, over populate, water would be scarce, the whole, Oh my God we're doomed thing. There was some hope, because a handful of hippies were on the case racing against time trying to save us in spite of ourselves. If only we would all listen now, this mess can be avoided. Perhaps you've seen it? It's only been on like 500 times.

Anywho I got to thinking, PJ O'Rourke was right, the real problem with liberalism is that it's a downer, a party poop-er, a sad sack. The world is always ending for these people. In the 80’s there was “THE MORNING AFTER” in which Ronald Reagan, predictably, blew up most of the world. In the 70’s nuclear power was going to kill us all and the planet was-no really- going to freeze because of carbon emissions. So then you read their e-mails and it all kind of makes sense in a sad kind of way, because lets face it, we conservatives have a death wish and only they can stop us.

I don't know that I could live that way, but different strokes for different folks.

These Dems have sunk themselves so quickly!

The Tea Party erupted from the ashes of our burning Constitution, holding their heads high throughout the false cries of ‘racism and hate’, through the disdain of the establishment and the lies and derision of the left - a true grass roots effort to change the disaster than has been the Obama administration.

How did it happen? Patriots arose to stop the theft of a nation!

If this keeps up, Obama could be a one term president.
