David Harmer Surges Into Lead Against Incumbent McNerney in California’s 11th Congressional District

Posted on 09/15/2010 5:00:19 PM PDT by qwicwted

Recent polling conducted for the American Action Forum has revealed that Republican David Harmer has pulled ahead of incumbent Democrat Congressman Jerry McNerney in California’s 11th Congressional District.

Harmer, who trailed McNerney by 10 points just after a tough June primary contest, has now pulled to a 45% Harmer, 44% McNerney lead in this swing district. More remarkable, 52% of voters say that they would prefer someone new as their congressman, rather than re-elect Jerry McNerney.

“The Harmer campaign has been working very hard to contact voters in the precincts and get our message out,” said Harmer spokesman Tim Clark. “These results reflect those efforts, but we know we have a lot more work to turn out our vote and bring this seat home in November.”

The survey results come on the heels of a barrage of pro-McNerney, taxpayer funded “franked” mail into the district. Harmer’s campaign has been vocal in exposing McNerney’s campaigning at taxpayer expense.

While many polls show that incumbent Jerry McNerney (D-Pleasanton) and challenger David Harmer (R-San Ramon) are in a dead heat in the polls for California’s 11th U.S. Congressional District, the interesting fact is that McNerney has a >93% name recognition factor while Harmer is recognized by only 42% of the constituents.

This is a tight race and will be too close to call. The thing is McNerney has a war chest of $1.2M of which the DNC has allocated over $1M to his reelection. On the other hand, David has $233K in cash and needs whatever support we can give him. Please stop by David's website - HARMERFORCONGRESS.COM and see where he stands on issues that are important to us all. If you like what you see, feel free to make a donation that will help us spread the word about David throughout the district.

Contributed a little. Wish someone on FR would win a very big lottery. There are so many good candidates that could win if they had a little financial help. Sad.

Every little bit helps and look what BO did with $5 contributions! Just think if everyone on FR gave $1 or $5.

Just went and gave a little. Wish it could have been more.

Boy would I love it if someone had a chance of beating my Rat congresswoman here in Sacramento! Would love to see her go away.

For now I’ll have to live vicariously through a nearby Bay Area district.

Thanks a lot - just don’t have hours to do research and do have limited resources so want to get help in some kind of priority order.

“.... McNerney has a >93% name recognition factor while Harmer is recognized by only 42% of the constituents.”

This is a BIG fact!
Remember when Cynthia McPigtails (95% name recognition) got kicked out? Her primary opponent has a 27% name recognition and was ahead 10% before the election.
