Paladino Promises a Relentless Attack Against Cuomo
New York Times ^ | DAVID HALBFINGER AND ELIZABETH A. HARRIS

BUFFALO — Fresh from having romped to a lopsided victory in the Republican primary for governor, Carl P. Paladino vowed Wednesday to attack Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo “like General Patton,” saying he would exploit Mr. Cuomo’s “immaturity” and his “ego.”

“We’re going to charge, charge, charge,” Mr. Paladino said in a wide-ranging 40-minute interview with The New York Times on Wednesday morning. “General Patton, when they told him to get up there to the bulge and bring his Third Army and help those soldiers up there — it didn’t matter who was in his way. He charged, charged, charged.” Sitting in the corner office of his real estate company in downtown Buffalo, with his late son Patrick’s gray pit bull, Duke, at his feet, Mr. Paladino said he would assail Mr. Cuomo’s record as federal housing secretary. And he would seek to blame Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, for the broader dysfunction of state government.

“This guy Sheldon Silver, who he calls one of his best friends, was first to endorse him,” Mr. Paladino said referring to Mr. Cuomo. “I hold him as very much a part of this last government.”

Later, Mr. Paladino referred to Mr. Silver, the powerful Assembly speaker, as a “dictator.”

And, echoing a widespread conservative argument, he asserted that Mr. Cuomo had “lit the fuse” on the nation’s housing crisis by pushing to lower lending standards at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two quasi-public mortgage giants.

Asked what he saw as Mr. Cuomo’s vulnerabilities, Mr. Paladino replied: “His immaturity. His ego. I think insular is a very good word for him.”

Good luck, Paladino.

New Yorkers like egotistical pols like Spitzer and Bloomberg, so I wonder how well the "ego" charge will work. I'm glad Paladino will talk about Cuomo's record at HUD.

Mr. Cuomo has something in common with President Obama, “immaturity” and “ego.” Cuomo is like a ship without a rudder, he just checks the wind and goes with the flow. He stands for nothing, IMO.

This looks like it is going to get good and this state doesn’t need another Cuomo. This state is such a mess, but doesn’t everything go to hell with Demonrat party control. It would be a good issue to remind people how Demonrat controlled cities, states and, now, national government are run into the ground straight to hell. Show me where a Republican controlled area is a hellhole compared to Detroit, Memphis, Philadelphia, LA, San Fran and Kalifornia’s downfall along with NY.

God Bless you!

Good.

I hope he starts with how badly Cuomo screwed things up as HUD secretary under Klintoon, and some of the low income housing initiatives. He can start with this HUD/Cuomo 1999 press release:

“WASHINGTON - Housing and Urban Development Secretary Andrew Cuomo today announced a policy to require the nation’s two largest housing finance companies to buy $2.4 trillion in mortgages over the next 10 years to provide affordable housing for about 28.1 million low- and moderate-income families. “

http://archives.hud.gov/news/1999/pr99-131.html

Cuomo is a huge player in the housing market meltdown, and in the policies that created the mess at Fannie and Freddie.

I’ll tell you one thing, love him or hate him Paladino gets things done. For years there were toll gates on the I-90 leading to downtown Buffalo. Politicians would huff and puff for years about having the thruway authority remove the tolls. Finally Carl got involved and threatened to sue the authority and voila! the next thing you know the tolls were removed and guess what? Every politician within 50 miles was there to take credit when the bulldozers showed up to knock down the toll booths. Carl just smiled as everyone knew who it was that got it done.

What was the reason Cuomo back away from running in disgrace a few years ago? I remember there was something and it wasn’t HUS, few even heard about that. Something he did to piss off the blacks I think and everyone said his career was over. He went into exile for a couple of years to let things cool off and came back (as all dirty Dems seem to) forgiven and a new chaste man.

Nice thing about “attacking” leftists...all you have to do is tell the truth about them.
