Rove Attack, NRSC Refusal, Will Aid O'Donnell

It was an amazing bit of television. Almost instant(ly) followed by an amazing bit of scoop.

The normally rational and analytical Mr. Rove had vanished. In his place was someone who looked like Karl Rove, sounded like Karl Rove…but spoke like the last guy out of the hoped-for-victory-party of the landslide losing candidate for Register of Deeds in NoPlaceville, Texas.

What on earth was Rove thinking? He was bitter, angry, cutting, demeaning, mean-spirited…and those were the nice things he had to say about O'Donnell.

Now the reality of the situation sets in. IF this is a wise move to choose O'Donnell for the nominee, you'll know Nov. 2. I hope it is BUT now everyone must begin to realize that it will be futile unless she wins Nov. 2. This means she needs the vote of every person that also voted for Castle plus independents and some Democrats.

It's time to stop sniping and get to courting the votes needed.

O’Donnell is going to need the vote of everyone of those RINOs plus independents and some Democrats to win in Nov. Get to work getting those people on board.

A low level ‘civil war’ within our party and now the ruling class republicans have jumped the shark. We have tried their game strategy for decades now. You know the strategy:...’vote for a rino in liberal districts because that is the only way we can win’. We aren’t buying that line anymore because our country’s very survival is at stake. What good does a rino do us in a liberal district if they are going to vote for the marxist democrat bills anyway?

My hunch is the RINOs who have been supportive of the Tea Party have been supportive as a parent is supportive of a toddler pretending to do an adult task.

Never in their wildest dreams did they think the "established" (per Dana Perino, another disappointment) republicans would be picked off. Their bemused condescension has turned to rage.

They still do not hear the message: "...That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed..." We have withdrawn our consent because they no longer are interested in securing our rights.

Actually what they were hoping for was the Tea Party take out a bunch of Democrats so that they would be in positions of power in a Republican controlled house and senate.

What they didn’t realize but now is starting to, is that the Tea Party is targeting all the incumbents from both parties, they are just taking out of Republican ones in primaries and will take out the Democrats in the general. So now the majority might still happen, but the GOP establishment won’t be there to lead it.

Marie, thank you for posting your comments. I must have the same cold as you because I didn't see anger from Karl Rove either. Rove said a few times that he thought that people voted against Castle's voting record.

Hannity seemed not to be listening to Rove as much as trying to get Rove to say that he (Rove) would now not support O'Donnell.

Rove's answer was that of course he was for the Republican, meaning O'Donnell.

Rove repeated a few times that Hannity was making Rove's point for him when Hannity kept repeating the list of Castle's voting record which Hannity said himself that voters had voted against.

Rove listed some questions that Dems are certain to ask O'Donnell. That seemed to me more like Rove laying out a game plan and strategy for the O'Donnell campaign on what they have to do to win the election.

If anything the overall message from Rove seemed to be that this is no time for Conservatives to rest on the laurels of the O'Donnell nomination. If O'Donnell is going to win the election, a whole lot of work has to be done starting today.

I do see that point and I couldn’t agree more. I guess I just didn’t see as much vitriol in that Rove interview as others have attributed to him.

He doesn’t think that O’Donnell is a strong candidate or believe that she can survive the Dem’s meatgrinder in a very liberal state. Big deal. The Tea Party Conservatives will give a good fight and we’ll see.

I just didn’t see the foaming, frothing, furious Rove that’s being portrayed here. Heck, the guy looked like he needed a nap.

Yes, he should’ve given her support. But it just sounded to me like he was calling it like he saw it.

I *hate* Alan Colmes. I have NO respect for Juan Williams. The reason why is that they do nothing but spew the party line. Every interview with them is a vomit of liberal talking points. There’s no honesty. No self-criticism. They’re apologists and nothing more.

So is this what we’re supposed to do now? Are we to walk lock-step with the rest of the crowd and bury our heads in the sand when disturbing things come up? That’s how we ended up with so many RINO’s in the first place. Standing behind candidates who we knew were crap and ignoring the real problems.

As I see it, Rove said, “I’m a little concerned. This candidate may have some serious issues,” and the conservative blog blew up in his face. We always say that liberals eat their own, but apparently we do it too. here’s 100 times more vitriol on this thread toward Rove than he ever showed O’Donnell.

Rove is right. O’Donnell has a lot of work to do.

I do think that it’s crap that the establishment won’t give her any money. They’re basically guaranteeing her failure.

I hope she kicks butt.

I think that people are just p*ssed that Rove didn’t just puppet the Tea Party line.

The purists will realize it takes the votes of ALL of us to win. We need the vote of every RINO we can get. We are all on one team. Hopefully, the Republicans in Delaware made the right choice but now all those decrying RINOS are going to have to realize they NEED those RINOs.

I see your point, but what Rove doesn’t seem to realize is that there has been some anger in the conservative base building up towards him and the rest of the ruling class for a very long time. Many of us blame him in part for losing in 2006 and for being such a bad advisor to President Bush in his second term. We are tired of being told that party line is more important than party principles.

On FOX: When asked if by Bill Hemmer if she agreed with Karl Rove, Dana Perino hemmed & hawed and said he may be right.

So much for party unity after an election. I wasn’t expecting it anyway. The GOP is doing what the GOP does best, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
