Why Christine O'Donnell's victory is scary
WaPo ^ | 9/15/10 | Ruth Marcus

Partisan Democrats are delighted about Christine O'Donnell's Republican primary victory over Rep. Mike Castle in the race for the open Delaware Senate seat.

I’m despondent.

From the Democratic point of view, the defeat of the moderate, well-known Castle turns what had looked to be a lost cause into a likely win. Keeping the seat in Democratic hands could be the margin of control in the Senate. So the folks who focus on electing Democrats and keeping a Democratic majority can't be blamed for breaking out the champagne over O'Donnell's win.

Not me, for two reasons.

First, I had thought the silver lining of this election year might be to produce a Senate with a more robust cadre of moderate Republicans. That caucus has pretty much dwindled to the two senators from Maine, with very occasional company from colleagues such as Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown and departing Ohio Sen. George Voinovich. It's awfully hard for a caucus of two to break with the party.

It’s amazing how completely backwards some people view the world. Absolutely amazing.

Oh, by all means, the GOP should let the Washington Post and pick their nominees. That’s worked out so well in the past.

Tea Party wins are always going to be scary to both the Media and the GOP... That seems to be a real problem for the GOP.

She’s despondent that the Dems have only the two RINOs from Maine to provide a fig leaf to hide the Socialist agenda that the Dems have passed. Not much coverage there, and that is why the country is so hostile to Democrats this election year.
They really wish they had the old herd of sleeping RINOs who went along with Dems and provided them with “bipartisan” votes to destroy our country.

And the downside for America is what?

You are so right.

I LOVE that the Tea Party wins will be scary to the Media and the GOPE (GOP Establishment).

That's the best news I could hear all day!!

I agree that Christine O’Donnell will have a harder time winning than Mike Castle would have, but that’s academic now. It’s time to get behind her.

Liberalism is a mental illness. She holds up Snowe, Collins, the cry baby from Ohio as the good part of the GOP? What a fool. Those senators are scorned by most Republicans.

Dems of course are misreading this victory.

But then what can you expect. They are after all democrats and we all know democrats are mentally defective vommie rat bastards.

What this result should do is send shivers up their non existent spines. It is a wave that is sweeping across the entire country and its culmination will be reached in November. That is what this victory should tell them.

WTF?

A bunch of “moderate” Republicans is what lost us the damn Senate not all that long ago. A democrat in an elephant suit is still a democrat when push comes to shove.

Regards
