In the statement, Murkowski said she would not run as a Libertarian candidate, which means that if she does run it will be as a write-in candidate. In explaining her decision, Murkowski had some harsh words for the Tea Party Express, which backed Miller.
"...After meeting with the Libertarian candidate last week and considering that option, I cannot in good conscience seek the Libertarian nomination," she said. "As disappointed as I am in the outcome of the Primary and my belief that the Alaska Republican Party was hijacked by the Tea Party Express, an outside extremist group, I am not going to quit my party. I will not wrap myself in the flag of another political party for the sake of election at any cost."

There is a real disconnect in the country right now between “the people” and those in government (be it Democrats or Republicans). The ‘political class’ truly considers itself the “RULING CLASS”. We need to PURGE and CLEAN OUT ALL OF THESE TYPE PEOPLE from our political midst if we are ever going to get this country back on the right track.
Sounds to me like she will run; otherwise she'd have already announced she won't. Damned petulant pain in the a**, won't take "no" for an answer. Good job raising her, Frank.
She knows she can inflict more damage onto the GOP by running as a write-in independent. We're in the pay-back zone, now.
Murkowski-to-English Translation: "The LP told me to go pound sand."LOL!!!!
Let this selfish bitch run as a write-in. It will mean nothing. Joe Miller is the next Senator from Alaska. And Alaskans will forever remember Lisa Murkowski with disgust.Excellent summary of the situation.
RINOS=Rats.
I hope all RINOS switch. Then we will have a clear choice between Democrats and Americans.
Thanks for the history less on 76 and 80. I was watching closely at the ripe old age of 18 in 80, but the smaller points and internal politics escape me in detail.
This poor behavior is why she was voted out of office. She did not learn, she has not changed. The MAJORITY is the minority in her eyes?
Talk about “entitlement to the seat”!
Forgot to attribute the quote.
I’m in Anchorage right now and yesterday as I was walking down the street I saw a most pleasant sight. The local newspaper headline was “Libertarian candidate will not step aside for Murkowski”. Sweet!
Dear Lisa, you lost in a primary. Enough about how the party was hijacked. No such thing. The people spoke.
Probably still sticking her finger in the wind and seeing how the internal polling comes back.
Well, they all have a cozy little coffee clatch down there, and they don’t like anybody making waves to mess it up.
Denying unanimous consent! Why that’s unheard of! Actually voting on things? Why we don’t do that! Critizizing another senator for his vote on the floor! Deplorable!
We can’t have people who do that in OUR body. So let us choose who the people can choose from. Then we will always have the same type of people.
Well, those days are over, Sally!
You misunderstood (as usual) my point. Miller is the nominee. He won the primary in a fair fight. For whatever reason, Murkowski didn’t get enough votes. When that happens, you lose. Murkowski is being a sore loser by floating this write-in crap. All that will do is draw votes away from Miller (cannibalism). The primary is over. We have a nominee. That’s the way it works. Now we have to decide if we will support that nominee and try to beat the ‘Rats, or throw it away.
Sore loser. She needs to go away and retire with some amount of dignity. If she puts herself on as a so-called “write-in candidate” then it will give the job to the Dem. Lisa, stay home and call it a day.
Of course she will.
I find it deliciously ironic that all these years we have been chided for entertaining such thoughts as creating or supporting a "third party" on the grounds that a vote for a third party candidate is a vote for the RAT candidate and, thus, paving the road to ruin for The Republican Party.
Lo and behold, look at who is now doing all the talking about and/or running as third party candidates: Dede Scozzafava, Charlie Crist, Lisa Murkowski. I'll bet there are others who I am forgetting.
Hypocrites! Ha haaaaaaa!
Murkowski has zero chance as a write-in. I’m of the opinion that every state should have a sore loser law, or at least the party should get every prospective candidate ON RECORD in the primary pledging to support the eventual nominee.
If believing that power should be in the hands of the American people and not in the hands of beltway born-into-power elitists is “extremist” then that’s what I am and I am glad to count Washington, Franklin and Jefferson as my “extremist” counterparts.
