Through most of its history, the narrative begins, the United States was a limited government nation, with restrained central power and an independent citizenry. But over the years, forces have arisen that seek to change Americas essential nature. These forces would replace Americas traditional free enterprise system ...
These statist forces are more powerful than ever in the age of Obama. So it is the duty for those who believe in the traditional American system to stand up and defend the Constitution. There is no middle ground. Every small new government program puts us on the slippery slope toward a smothering nanny state.
The social fabric is fraying. Human capital is being squandered. Society is segmenting. The labor markets are ill. Wages are lagging. Inequality is increasing. The nation is overconsuming and underinnovating. China and India are surging...

Is Thursday?
The first 80 years is not “Most of it’s history”
Would David be upset if someone told him to piss off or would he look forward to it?
David Brooks wrote this? Welcome to common sense, David.
I started reading it, then I realized it was David Brooks and not worth the pixels on my screen....
Even the libs are looking past the elections in Nov. Is it a forgone conclusion the the dems are out?
Who are these mysterious “forces” you speak of David?
Nothing is mysterious at all...the forces are Obama, the NYT, and the DNC.
And you support all three, you idiot.
They fear the roll back of the progressive state that has taken the last 100yrs to metastasize into the cancer it is today because they are the parasites that have been feeding on it. And he is factually incorrect in his interpretation of American history. The government was the guide and umpire but the free people built this country from the ground up. And he knows it but is counting on us not remembering...but we do...he is a lying sack of dung for purposely mis-stating our history!
“Not all of these challenges can be addressed by the spontaneous healing powers of the market.”
How about if we address them by the same healing power that made us what we are (a nation under God): free markets checked and balanced first and foremost by Christian morality. That moral system which gave rise to the Constitution.
I’m not surprised Brooks doesn’t mention God. And his ideology is even more clearly revealed by the fact that he doesn’t talk about the definition of the United States—its Constitution.
Would you believe you need to add in more evil to the Obama band of traitors?
It was recently said: "You people at AP, would some of you, any of you start maybe considering that this is purposeful? Have you ever heard of Cloward-Piven? These two yokels, I think they were Columbia, and they said the only way to overthrow the United States is to create utter and total chaos. Flood the system so that it breaks down, meaning the welfare state, flood it so it breaks down. There's no money to help anybody, and everybody needs help; everybody is in poverty; everybody is dependent; everybody loses their house; everybody is this or that or at least the vast majority of people do because when that happens then the public -- this is the theory -- will clamor for a powerful executive -- i.e., in this case Obama -- to run in and rescue it all by taking total control of it. It's a strategy. It's a strategy of a couple of leftist communists, Cloward-Piven. Nobody can prove that Obama is following it, but, if he's not, it's a strange coincidence. I don't know how things would be any different if he was following it, and we do know that he loves power and wants more of it.
What does all that mean? The enemies of America have a plan and Obama is the man. Do you finally get that the stimulus was meant to destroy the American economy, not help restore it?
While America is distracted with questions like is Obama a socialist, is Obama a Muslim, is Obama anti-Israel?, America is being destroyed before your eyes.
Don't look for the crowd behind the curtain, look for what the clown you can see is doing.
Woodrow Wilson marked the end of limited government not Lincoln.
