Krauthammer: Palin’s/DeMint’s endorsements of O’Donnell are destructive, capricious, irresponsible

Via the Right Scoop. There’s nothing here that you haven’t heard before, but since “true conservatives” are in RINO-stomp mode towards Paul Mirengoff and John McCormack and Jim Geraghty and a bunch of other people who were conservatives in good standing as of, say, four days ago, let’s make sure the stealth liberal known as Charles Krauthammer takes his licks too.

The only part of CK’s monologue that I disagree with is the “capricious” part: I’m sure Palin and DeMint made their endorsements with due deliberation, knowing how much it would please their base. (They certainly took long enough to pull the trigger.) And from a philosophical point of view, endorsing O’Donnell is a win/win/win for them.

If O’Donnell beats Castle and then shocks Coons in November, they’ll get all the credit; if Castle pulls it out and sends O’Donnell packing, they can at least tell their base that they were on the side of the angels; if, as is most likely, O’Donnell beats Castle and then gets steamrolled by Coons, well, the beauty of “true conservatism” is that the highest priority is defeating RINOs, not Democrats.

They won the important fight, and without Castle in the Senate, the GOP brand will remain pure and principled and therefore well positioned for the eventual “true conservative” takeover of Congress. Like the man said, better 30 Marco Rubios than 60 Arlen Specters.

Patton was wrong? Russia was militarily at their peak. If the German army couldn't finish them off, what makes him think the we could.

What an idiotic idea, Patton a great leader, successful when given an objective, was like, MacArthur, an egotist.

Why does anyone care what this guy says anymore? He’s a relic and cannot comprehend how politics has changed since 2008. He is old and in the way, part of the problem not the solution.

Most on FR know Kraut very well, we will always love him.

When he dissed the town halls as rude and counterproductive, and the tea parties as not amounting to much...he later said he was wrong, very much to his credit.

And since he is a media personality who is asked his opinion daily, of course he will get some things wrong.

Especially about the public, because most NY, DC commentators don't get the mood until WAY after we do.

But the Castle thing is more of an opinion, of which we can all disagree.

Do we want to dump Rinos at all costs?

How dangerous are they for us?

Are they counterproductive?

Is Castle an asset or liability?

Hey, you know, the Tea Party isn’t conservative Republicans. I don’t consider myself tea party. I’m a conservative Republican. I guess what I’m trying to say is that the Republicans are making a mistake when they assume that all of the supporters of the tea party candidate are actually conservative Republicans who have been held their nose, when actually, they’re new voters who don’t automatically vote every year for RINOs.

I’m watching Special Report now. Want to see if “The Kraut” has more to say on the subject during the All Star segment.

What good is your 51st Senator if he pulls a Jefford and sells his seat to his ideological soul mates, the Democrats, in Jan 2011?

I didn't say that Castle was perfect, but given a choice of a certain Dem or a potential Dem, I'd prefer to see Castle elected in DE, in the event that he wins today's primary. Defection is not a sure thing, especially not after it didn't work out in neighboring PA so recently. A Dem win is a sure thing, and a bad one. I'll take the risk over the certainty.

Do you think that the US army was chopped liver?

Considering what Russia became after the war, I'd say that Patton's idea, at least politically, was excellent. Logistically, perhaps less so.

Pattons idea was lunacy either way you cut it. If he had gotten his way there would be a lot more chopped liver to go around.

OK, back to watching the election results coming in. So far it looks better than good.

Hey, now that she has won the nomination, I hope she wins the election.

Further, if the NRSC does not support her in the same way they would have supported Castle, they do not deserve any cash from me...or anyone else.

I like KrauthammerHe's a neo-con, repeating the neo-con talking points. Kristol said almost the same thing last night. Blah, blah, blah. Too conservative. Blah, blah, blah - can't win the general.

Now the voters will decide. It's worth a chance. Using their theory the GOP should not have nominated Goldwater in 1964, but today most historians feel that his nomination was the start of the wave that brought us Reagan in 1980.

She who dares, wins.

Keep living in your fantasy world pal.

Golly, thanks for the advice. Come back when you have something to say that makes sense.
