PORTLAND, Maine (AP) The publisher of a Maine newspaper has apologized for giving Page One coverage to the end of Ramadan on Sept. 11 without mention of the ninth anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks. Saturdays print edition of The Portland Press Herald featured a front-page photo of Muslims praying at the end of the Muslim holy month. It published coverage of events marking the anniversary of the terrorist attacks the next day.
Editor and publisher Richard Connor issued a front-page apology to readers who were offended.
Connor says the celebration by 3,000 Muslims at the Portland Expo warranted coverage. But he says the newspaper should have shown sensitivity toward the painful memories stirred by the anniversary of 9/11.

3000 Muslims praying equals front page coverage. 3000 killed by Muslims-Not So Much!

They thought more about 3000 muzzie praying than 3000 Americans dying. To hell with them.

Why is it that people don’t think before opening their mouths on things? They say it then go and apologize after and that makes it Ok????

I was in Maine for a week in August, and bought the Portland paper every day (my only access to news). It’s probably the worst (most biased) paper I’ve ever seen. Worse than the Boston Globe or the New York Times. They were just full-on with Obama love and Bush Derangement Syndrome. It seemed a very odd tone for late summer 2010.

A good eight hours into the day, our editors were still working from home to keep up with a necessary response to our customers. Some managers came to the office on what was supposed to be a day off.

I don’t hope for sharia law. May it never happen here. I do hope that readers would drop their subscriptions and put ‘em out of business.

Connor's going to get kicked out of the 'we work for prizes NOT the respect and loyalty of our readers" group-think club, if he's not careful.

It's OK, it would have to have been read by someone to be offensive.

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.

I nominate him for a ticket on the “Man Without A Country” ship. He feels nothing for America. Absolutely nothing.

“I do hope that readers would drop their subscriptions and put em out of business.”
Even that wouldn’t be the end of it - ownership would simply shift to the deep pockets of Obama, Inc., and it’s business as usual by the next morning.

This rag has obviously forgotten 9/11 2001.

All people see anymore is the front page in shops while they get their beer, cigarettes, sodas or gas.
