Need more evidence that, with midterm elections looming, the traditional base of support for President Obama is eroding? Consider the recent comments made by Noam Chomsky that sound remarkably similar to anti-Bush rhetoric of roughly three years ago. All thats missing is a comparison to Hitler. Oh wait seems like he did that too.
In an interview for the New Statesmen, Alyssa McDonald writes:
What are your thoughts on President Obama? Hes involved in war crimes right now. For example, targeted assassinations are war crimes. Thats escalated quite sharply under Obama. If you look at WikiLeaks, there are a lot of examples of attacks on civilians.
What did you think when he was given the Nobel Peace Prize? Considering the history of the Nobel Peace Prize, its not the worst example. It was given to him before he had the time to commit many war crimes.
Is there any point in us being in Afghanistan? We wouldnt have asked in 1985: Is there any point in the Russians being in Afghanistan? The fact is that the invasion was a crime. Then comes the question: Is there any point in continuing? But that presupposes legitimacy. Putting aside questions of morality and legality and simply asking about the goals of the US government is a very narrow consideration.

Hotsky to Trotsky.
Chomsky can be relied upon to be more lunatic than whatever one thinks is the “far left”
would that be “hack on black” crime?...........
High Marx for that.
Gnome Chomsky: Michael Moore on SlimFast.
I love watching them eat their own.
Bingo. Chomsky loves to be thought of as a lunatic, as soon as his lunacy becomes the norm, he goes more looney.
Targeted assassination of American citizens completely bypasses the American Constitution. An open trial with absentia sentencing at least pays lip service to the Constitution. A Presidential order to kill an American citizen without trial based on “secret” information is a scary thing. Shooting an American citizen on the battlefield while he is actively engaged in operations supporting the enemy is legal. But an assassination order based on a signal intercept or an informer is a different thing entirely. Especially with a President who is already very loose with his “interpretation” of the Constitution.
Targeted assassinations in war are a war crime? When did that happen? Would Operation Foxley have been a war crime if carried out? I think the British considered Hitler a valid military target.
They are both hypocritcal, fraudulent cowards. I’m not always convinced they believe what they say. They’ve made a killing off of telling braindead libs what they want to hear. Basically, they get wealthy off condemning the wealthy.
Triangulation. Bill Clinton was the master of it. Not gonna work as well for TPOTUS.
Leaving Chomsky's nutiness aside, I think this is a deeply troubling proposition, and something that shouldn't be dismissed out of hand.
I agree, targeting American's for assassination - anywhere - is a VERY slippery slope. Of course, perhaps - as Newt Gingrich suggested earlier this year - we should have a process where citizenship could be stripped from citizens, so long as that process protects the citizen's due process rights. If the accused what access to their "due process" they'll have to return stateside and defend themselves from the accusations.
The several that are targeted are clearly acting treasonously. A conviction for treason will strip someone of their citizenship, but treason is very difficult to prove, per the Constitution.
Whatever mechanism is created, and however it's created, I think that's what needs to be done - strip their citizenship and then target them for assassination.
In this case the battlefield is the whole Earth. Anwar al-Awlaki is a known active al Qaeda recruiter running from our government. Any time we find him is a valid kill of a military target. He is welcome to turn himself over to our justice system for trial if he wants to avoid this.
Oh, yeah. When we intercepted German spies being offloaded from a German sub on the Southern coast -— we shot ‘em. After the war, when we caught German former SS now in civilian garb engaged in assassination of American soldiers -— we shot ‘em. Does anyone nowadays know how to win a war?
Nah. Chomsky hates everybody; that, and he really, really likes the attention that comes with expressing his hatred of the moment in public.
Am I reading this article correctly?
Don’t bogart the popcorn, man.
Gnome Chomsky!
HahA!
I bet he believes in the gnome induced global warming also!
