Bottom line: 59% say the rich should get their taxes increased.

I do not care to hear about "adults" or "registered voters" or the demographics of who was polled so much as I want to point out the obvious: WE MUST EDUCATE THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA ABOUT THE DANGER OF THE GOVERNMENT DESTROYING THE ABILITY OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO CREATE JOBS.

I am not "rich", I am an employee. Most of us ARE employees, but we need employERS. What the people in this poll fail to realize is that higher taxes on "rich" citizens will mean FEWER jobs for them.

Let's do the right thing--and tell America the truth about taxes.

I agree...like asking ‘how likely are you to find a job knocking on doors in a working class neighborhood?’

Maybe if we called them “tax cuts for small business owners” it would help...

More evidence government schools have effectively dumbed-down the populace. Who in the hell do these people think are the employers in this country.

Idiots.

There’s a big backlash against people with big paychecks when actual unemployment/underemployment is pushing 20% and jobs keep disappearing. Especially as many of the paychecks can be tied into government bailouts. GM president gets a $9M paycheck. You can’t say he did anything to earn that $9M as this is Government Motors. The heads of BofA, Wall Street firms, etc all made big bucks on bailouts while people lost their jobs.

It will be this way until some sanity returns...and only God knows when that will be.

So the guy earning $250K and living in NYC is going to take a major hit, while someone in Kokomo, IN bringing home $249K keeps the tax cut.

Stay tuned for double-digit unemployment, folks.

When you penalize people for hiring new workers, guess what, they stop hiring. Democrats want to make it more expensive to employ people, so to cut the increased costs, employers will lay off MORE people. Less workers means less taxes paid means the net effect of a tax hike is less taxes collected.

Guess a “majority” does not realize they will be out of work soon.

The majority will think the rich should be taxed to oblivion until the unemployment reaches 15%. Not getting a paycheck helps folks see things a little more clearly.

A majority of those polled by Gallup agree with President Obama that Bush-era tax cuts for the rich should be phased out.

If you frame the question in MARXIST terms,
you will get that answer.

It seems as if Gallup is promoting CLASS WARFARE.

This just shoes how stupid and ignorant the general publik truly is. They are sucking up the MaObama rhetoric and believe the propaganda from the Press.

The Democrats use polls to test what propaganda is working for them. they will now hammer this point again, and again, and again, until they get their result.

Of course, we all know what the outcome will be. There will be even greater job losses and business leaving this country. And the Publik will still be just as stupid, ignorant and ill informed as ever. THIS IS the greatest problem and threat we face in turning this around.

This is a two-fer for Gallup. Last week he had a swing of 10% in 1 week for DemocRATs. The fact that he is one should say it all... It’s election time, and Gallup is in full influence the dumb masses time.

Making an income of greater than $250K is not an indicator of wealth, in and of itself! Using it is as such is simply a libtard tool used to foist income redistribution of wealth on the populace without their awareness, and with minimal impact on the ruling class (themselves).

The tacit agreement of the majority to these polls reflects a gross lack of understanding. It seems the libs are creating the perfect storm of class warfare...their definition of the rich (the top 10% of earners) against the less well-to-do AND themselves, the ruling class of socialist power-mongers. It’s classic Marx/Lenin/Alinsky. It makes my blood boil!

And when the top 10% are no longer creating jobs, all but the ruling class will suffer gravely.

Well tweaking the tax code a little one way or the other will no longer do the tric. The out of control death spiral is underway and will not be reversed.

I wish I could stand on the tallest building in the land with a bullhorn that could reach from coast to cost and yell:

HAVING YOU OWN BUSINESS IS NOT THE SAME AS WORKING FOR WAGES!

You are not guaranteed anything - and some years you won't make anything! I have posted this several times before. It is real. It is factual. It happens hundreds of thousands of times per year. It is how the majority of jobs are born in this country:

In 1985 my wife and I worked full time in our business and brought home a combined income of $10,300. In 1987 our combined income was $14,800. In 1986 our combined income was $283,000.

People in business rarely make a fixed amount(ie, more than $250,000). If you averaged my income during the 1980’s, I made about $110,000 a year - but I didn't make that amount in any year. It was always a lot more or a lot less.

Back then they had some pretty loose rules concerning income averaging that helped some. But the fact remains - why should I or anyone else work their a$$ off during lean years to build up a business hoping for a reward, when if you do have a good year the government is going to take a huge chunk of it?

Since the government wants higher taxes when you succeed, would they also like to indemnify you if you fail? Unless your name is General Motors, the answer is NO.

It's called risk and reward theory. If I take the risks and a reward results, I should get it. If there is no reward, why the hell should I take the risk?

And to finish the story, today I work for wages - but I have thought about starting a business again. At this point the answer is a resounding hell no! I've got enough to live on for the rest of my life right now. Why put it at risk, when the government wants most of it if I succeed.

There’s a big backlash against people with big paychecks when actual unemployment/underemployment is pushing 20% and jobs keep disappearing.

Yes, it's a very Russian response - even if the "rich guy" was not part of the Goldman/JP Morgan/Fannie/Freddie cabal that really did steal from the taxpayer, people would rather see him taken down a peg than leave him be in the hope that he might create an opportunity for them. The latter is a very mature response - and we are an immature society. Obama knows that, and knows just how to play it.

The irony is that the real "rich" don't necessarily realize all that much earned income, so restoring the Bush tax cuts won't hurt them percentage-wise nearly as much as it hurts the small business owner down the street. The majority of Americans can't really understand that.
