WASHINGTON — A Saudi Arabian diplomat is seeking political asylum in the United States because he is gay and befriended a Jewish woman, and fears for his life if he returns, NBC News reported Saturday.

"My life is in a great danger here and if I go back to Saudi Arabia, they will kill me openly in broad daylight," Asseri told NBC in an email message.
Asseri posted a letter on a Saudi website criticizing his country's "backwardness" as well as the role of "militant imams" that have "defaced the tolerance of Islam," NBC said.
In the letter Asseri also threatened to make public embarrassing information on members of the Saudi royal family living in the United States, NBC said.

How is a gay Saudi any different from your run of the mill Saudi?

Islam has never been tolerant of open homosexuality. It is in their laws to openly condemn homosexuals to receive the death penalty. If this guy is a gay Saudi, he should tell the truth: Islam and Saudi Arabia are wholly intolerant to the practice of homosexuality, and are wrong on these counts. Sugar-coating the truth doesn’t help one’s cause much.

He is delusional. Islam is tolerant only when it is weak; usually this happens only during the first years of conquest. But once it gains strength all the tolerance is out of the window. Those "militant imams" are actually normal imams who read the Koran every day and understand what it says. It's the "moderate Islam" that is unfaithful to the book.

If he had fallen in love with a camel, everything would be okey dokey. The Saudis would welcome him and his camel back with open arms, especially the camel.
