Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin Wednesday evening decried a Florida pastor's plan to lead a Quran burning over the weekend, likening it to the plans to build a Muslim community center near Ground Zero.
"Book burning is antithetical to American ideals," Palin wrote in a Facebook note. "People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation - much like building a mosque at Ground Zero."

If Islam is more than a religion, say, a subversive and anti-American political cult akin to Communism and Marxism, then building a mosque next door to Ground Zero is akin to erecting a Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist recruiting and training center in Federal Triangle in Washington, and burning copies of the Quran is akin to burning copies of The Communist Manifesto and the Soviet flag.
Rabs, this is 2 days ago and have already been discussed.
The Quran should be shredded and composted.
Just to be more environmentally friendly.
“People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation - much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.”
No Sarah. Burning the instruction manual for TOTALITARIANS is not like setting up a base camp/barracks for TOTALITARIANS anywhere in the U.S.A.
I find it amazing that if someone burns our flag or our bible we are supposed to practice religious tolerance, but if we burn somone elses we are racist bigots.
And if a Jew or a Muslim wish to visit the Vatican they are welcome. If a Christain or a Muslim wish to visit the Wailing Wall in Israel they are welcome. Try and visit Mecca if you are a Jew or a Christian.
Christians cannot build Churches in Saudi Arabia, but muslims can build a mosque right next to Ground Zero.
We are more than tolerant.....it is islams turn now.
Get a clue Sarah.
She is performing her role as stateswoman.
The provocations in question differ significantly. A small-time pastor destroying a few korans shouldn't be compared to an imam with terrorist connections building a moon-cult monstrosity at Ground Zero with mystery money.
“provocation” like wearing a short skirt outside and getting raped or being a child wandering into a NAMBLA meeting or earning more than minimum wage in a liberal state
stateswoman?
“You have a Constitutional right to wear a short skirt but don’t blame anyone else if you get raped at the park”
Palin used the intelligence that she always does, while of course having to speak out on burning holy books, she also pushed forward her position that building the victory Mosque is the same thing.
Palin is the only one to advance our cause when commenting on the Florida story.
You can see why she is destined for great leadership.
I used to think she was OK, but endorsing Juan McCain, this and a number of other comments by her lead me to believe she’s just another country club republican.
And as far as the burning of the koran...you nailed it again....it is a political manifesto.
As far as Palin and this issue...she at least connected the two issues as being "insensitive"...what a weasel word...but , hey, I know she can't say what we can say....but did you read what that preacher said at the Wasilla 9/11 event about Islam wanting to take over the world??...SP understands that as well...she is just being cautious for now. At least she didn't say it is a religion of peace...she knows better.
Notice she didn’t call it “the holy koran”, unlike our pwesident and secwetawy of state, who make a point of calling it “the holy koran.” Neither one would be caught dead calling the Bible holy. In fact I’ve never heard either one of them say the word “Bible.” They’d probably sizzle and smoke if they said that awful word.
Note that CBS put the Ground Zero Mosque in quotation marks. The current acceptable terminology in the media/left hive is “Park51”-making it sound like an innocuous, cosmopolitan project.
This is two days old. Your tin foil hat must be interfering with TV and Internet reception.
Shouldn't you be out campaigning for your “Open Borders” Libertarian in Arizona or starting up the Ron Paul in 2012 campaign?
wouldn’t say country club but would say in for power
