OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Atheists in Oklahoma City have erected a billboard seeking fellow non-believers and Satanists have scheduled a conference in a city-owned building, drawing criticism from ministers in a state where more than 8 out of 10 people say they are Christians.

"It's not a question of `Can you?' It's a question of `Should you?'" said Dan Fisher, pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church in Yukon. "It's kind of like they're poking a finger in your eye."

To mix metaphors, if someone pokes a finger in your eye, turn the other cheek.

Seriously. Ignore these attention-seekers. By responding, you’re giving a very small minority just what they want.

Let’s see how quickly the Christians vow to riot and start chanting, “Death to Satan”?

Seriously. Ignore these attention-seekers.

That's what I do for the local Christian banners that directly insult atheists.

Provoked? No one but the Christians are expected to be tolerant! America, you deserve what you get if you tolerate that!
America has always been a Christian nation, and it is time Christians stand up for America! The father of lies is pitting everyone against Christians. Let’s get some good old fire and brimstone back into the pulpits!

Even though they are commanded to go out and convert everyone? It's right there in their book...I read it! If they got their way, they'd take over America!

Well, good for you, because rude folks don’t represent true Christianity.

Its message reads simply, "Don't believe in God? Join the club."

Wow, that's just SOOOOOO provocative!

They have been doing that here in the Seattle area for a long time, using the ad signs and placards on Metro busses. There so common you hardly blink an eye anymore when you see one.

The radical “look at me” atheists just substitute government for a deity. That’s why they hate religion so much - it competes with their god.

The only thing it provokes from a vast majority of Christians is a big yawn.

Just wait til the real persecution that Jesus spoke of begins. This minister will be wishing this “poke in the eye” was the least of his problems.

OMG! The media is going to totally come down on these atheists like a brick chimney in a Richter 9. Cable and network TV will go wall-to-wall with massive national and international coverage and ex-Clintonista, Ron Noble will alert his organization, Interpol, to the added European security risk posed by these agents of hate.

Just kidding.

I'm a little offended getting lumped in with the silly Satanist crowd - can those 10 people even afford to rent an entire conference hall?

I suppose if you were an atheist in Oklahoma you might be heartened to see the billboard. Otherwise, what's the point? It's hardly a good tool for proselytizing - if you can call advocating atheism that - just like the fire-and-brimstone billboards.

Ha! You know the atheists feel they are in trouble if they are appealing to Satanists to join them. Satanists worship Satan. Atheists don’t believe in any god. How they can somehow accept this and have to suspend their own belief system is tragically funny.

“Rude” is a subjective term, remember. One person’s polite attempts to talk about God could be regarded by the other person as “rude”.

Rude is generally in the eye of the person pissing and moaning about being offended.

The second group being rounded up here should tell you what this is all about.
