GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The anti-Muslim leader of a tiny Florida church says he was lied to and is rethinking his decision to cancel burning Qurans to mark 9/11.
Pastor Terry Jones earlier Thursday had backed off his threat to burn the Quran after he said he was promised that a planned Islamic center and mosque would be moved away from New York's ground zero. Muslim leaders denied there was such a deal.
Later outside his church he said that the imam he thought he made the deal with "clearly, clearly lied to us" about moving the mosque.

My God, there's a mass hysteria going on that is reminiscent of the mindless anxiety, frenzy and panic engendered by Orson Welles' 1938 "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast.
Educated religious leaders going completely out of their minds over this media hyped-up flap is evidence of the sorry depths some guilt-ridden, naive Americans of the cloth are plummeting to.

The latest article on CNN now says the muslim says he “incorrectly announced” the meeting with the minister. How does that work? Is “incorrectly announce” muslim-speak for “misspoke”?
Isn’t it revealing that liberals are determined to stop the burning of Korans, but not Holocaust denial or, in the past, such an insult to Christianity as Andre Serrano’s “Piss Christ”? And of course, when Christians are slaughtered by Muslims (forget about destroying holy books!) in Egypt, Lebanon, Nigeria, and elsewhere, they barely utter a peep. I’d say it shows their priorities.

I looked at the burning of this religious icon the same as the destruction of the Buddhas, and as all Christians should know, Paul did not tear down any idols while on his missionary trips.
