Suicide bomber kills three in southern Russia
Reuters ^ | Sun Sep 5, 2010 | Reuters

(Reuters) - At least three people were killed and 33 wounded on Sunday when a suicide bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into a military camp in Russia’s southern region of Dagestan, the Defense Ministry said.

The bomber tried to drive a Lada car containing about 50 kg (110 lb) of explosives onto a firing range where the 136th Motorised Brigade had set up camp outside the town of Buynaksk, about 50 km (30 miles) west of the local capital Makhachkala.

But soldiers blocked the bomber’s path with a military truck, preventing what investigators said would have been a much more deadly attack had the bomber reached tents where hundreds of soldiers were sleeping.

“”What happened? Did Russia move a mosque or burn a Koran?””

Must be as otherwise they would all be home tending to their knitting - or their goats - or their camels - perhaps baking cookies!

I was just reading another article about the bombing when I saw this one. Looks like this market has been bombed 4 times in the last decade and it’s not far from the site of the 2004 school massacre.

Exactly. I am sure Russia did something to offend them..which gives them the perfect right to launch terrorist attacks according to liberal appeasement orthodoxy.

One has to wonder why they keep helping Iran. Russia doesn't need the oil, they are the worlds largest producer.

Yes, Iran is the money and training behind their terrorist problem in the Caucasus.

OPINION:

Maybe Russia finds Iran useful (in a way(s) not known to me).

Yes.
Jihadis like to target public spaces where large groups of people congregate.

Probably because Iran is a thorn in our side.

Iran is different. It is Shia.

Al Qaeda will attack ANYONE, even fellow terrorists. They got into a massive firefight with Hamas in the West Bank. They even got into battles with Hezbollah in Lebanon, and with other terrorist orgs in Iraq and Afghanistan. Al Qaeda attacks Chinese, Russians, Kazakhs, Iranians, Saudis, Palestinians, Hezbollah, and even opposition Taliban commanders.

Iran can’t stand Al Qaeda. Most other terrorists can’t either.
