Cuba's Fidel Castro Gives Up on Communism: "The Cuban model doesn't even work for us anymore"

"The Cuban model doesn't even work for us anymore," Castro tells an American journalist when asked whether the Cuban economic and political system was worth exporting.

WASHINGTON – Cuba’s Fidel Castro used an interview with a U.S. magazine to urge Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to abandon Holocaust denial and refrain from “slandering” Jews and confess that the Cuban model doesn't work.

Castro, whose recent public pronouncements have been dominated by warnings that a U.S. or Israeli attack on Iran could spark a nuclear war, invited a journalist with The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, to Havana to discuss the writer’s recent article on Israel and Iran.

In the first installment of several Atlantic articles on their exchanges, Castro told Goldberg that the Iranian government must understand the consequences of anti-Semitic theology.

...

In the second installment from a series of meetings with Castro, Goldberg says Castro was asked whether the Cuban economic and political system was worth exporting.

"The Cuban model doesn't even work for us anymore," Castro responded. He didn't expand on the comment.

Hell, yeah. Cuba was a haven of prosperity, good times and happy people before Castro fomented discontent and took over.

More like Castro is so old now and near death, he is finding religion and atonement and possible redemption.

I would say too little too late, Fidel.

When Reagan and his policies brought the Soviet Union down, it was also the beginning of the end for Cuba.

Now the only thing holding up Russia economically is their natural resources and minerals.

Take that away and they have nothing at all to sustain them.

China is learning that lesson.

I remember Cuba begged the ChiComs to fill the void left by the Soviets, and the ChiComs basically said, “Thanks, but no thanks.”

As much as i hate communism, Those figures are just imaginary
And I lived in Yugoslavia. 1,7 million killed during WWII and that is about it.
Tito regime was commie but nothings compared to Stalin's or Mao's or anything like that.

Actually only gulag we had has Goli otok- made for pro-Russian communists that Tito persecuted.

Oh so would I FRiend, but you can bet the rent that when Comrade Zero outlives his usefulness as a Soros sock puppet, and when it is determined that he is no longer an asset or a liability?

He'll be communing with the spirit of Vince Foster in the Great Beyond.
