If we move from that location, the story will be that the radicals have taken over the discourse.

It will always be something.
Is it because the media is socialist, and they don’t care what despot rules as long as a despot rules.
Or do they think (like the Russian bolsheviks) that in a civil war that they will be the despots who come out on top?
I don’t think this is a credible threat. I think Feisal is a boob that claims to have his finger on the pulse of the middle east, when in fact he is simply a charlatan.
He’s gone from trying to profit from the victims of 9/11 to now threatening new attacks if he doesn’t get his prize.
This Feisal guy wants this for prestige and personal wealth. And he’ll say or do anything to attain it.
If the mere act of burning the pages of a book will supposedly endanger the lives of millions, then those millions of lives are already in danger and it is time to fish or cut bait on this war.
If some kooky pastor can trigger a world wide religious war by merely burning a single copy of the Koran, then we are already on the precipice of that war, and the longer we wait for it the more deadly our enemy will become.
If the act of one person out of 6 Billion people on earth burning a single copy of the Koran will unleash the dogs of war, then by golly let us release our dogs first. Burn it and get it over with!
Ohio, we are already in a war. We have just not yet fired a shot at the enemy. Maybe the first shot will be fired on Saturday. If so, then it is God's will and we had better be prepared for war.
CHRISTians in lockup are required to follow schedules/procedures for corporate worship while the jails accomodate and bend their procedures/personnel to placate ramadnadingdong and food requests for muslim converts...
black muslim jailhouse jihadi converts are being churned out into our cities daily...future poll watchers...
Good point, P-M. If burning one (or even a few dozen) books is going to cause a world-wide conflagration, then the world was already there, anyway.
It wasn’t the straw that broke the camel’s back. The straw was an insignificant addition to an already irretrievable situation.
I suggest that if you support this irresponsible action, you go down to Florida, burn a Koran instead of remembering those who lost their lives on 9/11, get your faces in the paper, and put your own selves at risk.
That may sound harsh, but supporting irresponsibility and revenge on the internet is easy.
Going down there and joining the burning will show real courage to stand up for these principles you've been arguing so vehemently here.
Since 2003, I’ve had my own risk who have been on the ground in these wars in Iraq and Afghan. Each year, OWF. And I’m TIRED of our being threatened here so that they have to be fighting and at risk over there.
So, my supporting this pastor’s simply highlighting and flushing out reality is no lark on my part. Petraeus’ caution isn’t on deaf ears. But, I’ll tell you the truth, I want to fight the war or get out. As my blunt mom used to say, “shit or get off the pot.”
I’ve got 24+ years to my credit in service to this nation, and I guarantee you that I never once got my face in a paper.
Another thing you haven’t considered it this: who is most likely to get hurt if this pastor goes forward? Who did the Black Muslim Panthers threaten would get hurt?
Pretty steep price to get your pic in the paper, isn’t it?
Keep in mind that Petraeus is a soldier, and as such has no voice independent of what the Commander in Chief tells him to say. His choices are to parrot the party line, or resign his commission.
Bingo! All anyone in this country has to do is open their eyes and ears and observe the results of allowing this so-called "religion" to spread in Western Civilization over the centuries. (Yes, they have had the same clearly stated goals for centuries and have not been the least bit coy about what they are.) For an up to date perspective, one only needs to see the recent and rapidly intensifying destruction of societies and civilization in Europe as a direct result of allowing this EVIL to take root (and to offer it PC (suicidal) protections as a sign of their societal "enlightenment.")
Anyone that wants to understand what has happened in Europe and is now happening here in this country should take the time to read: Lee Harris, The Suicide of Reason: Radical Islam's Threat to the Enlightenment.
From Harris: "The West can only think of fanaticism as a social pathology, a failure to modernize, rather than as what it is: a variety of social order that is not only fully viable in the modern world but also willing to use weapons to which the West is uniquely vulnerable. A governing philosophy based on reason, tolerance, and consensus cannot defend itself against a strategy of ruthless violence without being radically transformed--or destroyed."
Hard to 'give' them the truth of the Gospel, when they are slitting your throat with a rusty knife.
Don't underestimate the satisfaction of a glory-seeker in getting his face all over the news.
I'm sure he's grinning like a cheshire cat at all this attention to him and to his cult. No concern for the potentially deadly consequenses of his irresponsible behavior. He's getting his 5 minutes of fame.
Don't be fooled by this kook, xzins.
I’ll agree that he’s getting attention. But I don’t think it will be positive. I’m betting that he’s hurt before 12 months are up.
As far as a kook....get the Hannity interview from yesterday. He really doesn’t come across as a kook.
At least.....no more than I do. :>) (Now, be nice.)
If lives are going to be lost in this venture, then I suspect the first life that will be lost will be his own.
It is not the act of a man with an inflated ego to put his own life on the line in his cause.
If there is one trait of a man with an inflated ego, it is self preservation. Jones doesn't appear to have that trait.
Those who take the lives will be the ones responsible. It is the Muslim extremists who I will hold responsible, not Jones. They want to kill us just because we are not them. And I, for one, will never be one.
You want to hold Jones responsible, then you will join the likes of Obama, Holder, Hillary and the terrorists who inevitably will do the killing. I hold no one responsible other than those who are willing to kill innocent people in the name of advancing Islam.
I think you believe that this cult leader is more honorable than he is. (I think the Phelps thing proves that he's not).
I heard part of Hannity after the interview, and he was 100% opposed to what the guy is doing because of his support for the troops.
I stand with Hannity and for the troops, and against the glory-hound.
This is a very, very irresponsible thing to do. A BAD idea, no matter how much satisfaction it gives a minority of conservatives.
I completely agree with that. I think Jones is a dead man walking after Saturday.
Car crash, infection, bullet, lightning, or a fall off a building...I'll just not be surprised.
Are you on call to any branch of the military that might be called up to fight such a jihad, or to deal with west-friendly Islamic entities that severed all diplomatic ties and declared war?
I just want to know if your rear ends are prepared to cash the checks your mouths are writing.
This Jones cult leader has an inflated ego, or he wouldn't be pulling this attention grabbing stunt. I doubt he's thought far enough ahead to think about his own risk. He obviously hasn't thought about the danger he's putting others in because of his stunt.
Responsiblity for death doesn't have to be limited to those doing the killing, P. You know that.
Of course the Islamofascists will be responsible, but so will the glory hound who triggered the added violence, and did so deliberately against the advice of General Petraeus.
He will pay if lives are lost.
Ahem, individual suicide bombing jihadists have such a trait too. It's tied to beliefs of specific reward in the afterlife.
That sounds like an admission. They have to have a mosque there. With that on tape, it’s no longer “just another mosque”; it’s officially about Ground Zero, directly from the source.
