Obama Takes Aim at Republicans
WSJ ^ | SEPTEMBER 8, 2010 | JONATHAN WEISMAN

Posted on 09/08/2010 2:27:32 PM PDT by RobinMasters

President Barack Obama, in a combative, campaign-like speech in Parma, Ohio, conceded that his policies have "fed the perception that Washington is still ignoring the middle class," even as he castigated Republican opponents for "riding…fear and anger all the way to Election Day."

The speech, at Cuyahoga Community College, was billed as a major economic address to unveil a new round of proposals to kick-start a flagging economic recovery. The president did introduce three new policy proposals the White House has been rolling out for nearly a week: $50 billion in additional infrastructure spending, a permanent and expanded research and experimentation tax credit and a measure allowing businesses to write 100% of their investment costs off their taxes through 2011.

But Mr. Obama's speech was far more about politics than economics.

"If we're willing again to choose hope over fear, to choose the future over the past, to come together once more around the great project of national renewal, then we will restore our economy, rebuild our middle class and reclaim the American dream for the next generation," he said, striking the same cadences that buoyed his presidential bid.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

It’s becoming clearer and clearer every day that Obama has one—and only one trick—and it isn’t working anymore.

He got the stimulus, health care and financial reform. The economy tanked and now 100 house dems and as many as 15 senators are going to lose their jobs. The dem leadership is so disconnected from reality that this fact is just now settling in.

Reid and Pelosi are both finished as leaders, and Reid is done as a senator, as a consequence of following Hussein off a cliff. Their cliff diving days are now over.

Hussein is all by himself on the campaign trail. No dems want to be seen with him. His whole administration is in full panic mode. He is just throwing stuff out there to see if it sticks. Nothing is sticking. The public, those who are still listening, are tired of "blame Bush" and "blame the republicans". In fact, the more he uses the old playbook, the more unpopular he becomes. We are witnessing the quickest end of a presidency I have ever seen.

The danger now, is that something bad happens overseas. The pot is boiling in the middle east and in asia and any number of crisis could erupt at any time. It should be patently obvious by now that Hussein is simply not up to the job of handling any kind of crisis, he is far too busy playing president.

It is going to be an absolute bloodbath in November. Hussein will not serve out his term. He will either resign or be impeached.

What’s new - is it all he has left in his bag of tricks except “blame Bush?”

Every Obama proposal, every Democratic proposal, every Republican proposal, always comes down to the exact same thing: you get temporary tax break while going out of business or not being able to find a job. What the hell is that good of that?

Have you noticed? Never, never, never do they want to reduce spending.

Never do they say that all levels of government are extremely bloated, fat, need to go on a diet, need to be cut in half.

Never do they say that government bureaucrats should not be retiring with $100,000, $200,000, $300,000 pensions.

All of you are aware, of course, that all those fools in Congress have their own pension plans? That they are not on Social Security, not on the Social Security Ponzi scheme, right?

Isn’t it amazing? What is okay for you and me is completely unacceptable to the minions of the federal government. They have their own retirement scheme, of course.

Did you see that a Republican introduced a law that set all federal laws that applied to the common man should also apply to the common congressman?

Of course it was roundly defeated. Of course!

“Obama NOT taking aim at Republicans” would be news. This is partisan politics as usual.

Obama continuing to flap his gums is a good thing.

A very good thing.

... to kick-start a flagging economic recovery.

"Economic recovery" is now the official new euphemism for "depression."

The public, those who are still listening, are tired of "blame Bush" and "blame the republicans".

And at the rate things are going, it's only a matter of days or weeks before he starts blaming the public. When that happens he's really going to be in for it. The American people don't like being blamed for the sins of second-rate politicians, and they especially don't like having their country run down by the same.
