Sponsors of the Ground Zero mosque neither own the property in question...

I thought they did own the property.

The straw that broke the camels back, perhaps?

this is why I suspect that Terry Jones is secretly getting a payoff from George Soros somehow. He is single-handedly feeding the narrative that all of us who oppose this mosque are bigoted kooks.

What’s most interesting about what this article is talking about is that this mosque thing is working in conjunction with the Tea Party movement to show people they can move the discussion without permission from the government or the pundits.

It’s showing us that after decades of HEARING it, we are making the “You have a voice in this government!” cliches (which have NOT been true for decades) mean something.

And ironically, it’s not the noisy leftists who are leading this “people’s” revolt, and that scares the hell out of them.

Oh but the American taxpayers via the state department recently helped fund a fund raising trip abroad for one of the mooselimb scum bags in question IIRC.

There is no need to feel shy or embarrassed when you say “no” to submission to Islam. We will not submit. Not now, not ever.

In a very direct and tangible way, the Obama administration's warnings about violent reprisals should be by far the greater insult to Islam than the torching of a Koran.

I know this would never, ever happen in an Obama administration, but if Obama told an atheist group not to protest against Christians because they are a violent bunch who will retaliate with bloodshed, I would protest his characterization vigorously.

Interesting that Muslims haven't taken offense to his implication that they are such a problem when it comes to savagery.

This is also the beginning of more commentators writing and saying the same thing as McCarthy.

Americans are as fed up with the “Muslim Religion of Peace” mantra as they are fed up with the “Illegal Immigrant has rights” mantra.

“Moderate Islam” is a dream, not a reality. It is a dream with potential, because there are millions of Muslims who are moderate people, and because there are dedicated Muslims working to transform their faith into something that is institutionally moderate. But they work against great odds. They confront Islamists whose dedication to theocratic principles is deeply and undeniably rooted in Islamic scripture.

Great essay, other than this. Because if the "bad" Muslims are deely rooted in Islamic scripture, how can the "good" Muslims be true to their scripture and remain Muslim? Wouldn't their transformation of their faith, in effect, make it something other than Islam?

I’m not sure I would use Ground Zero as a defining “fault line” between Islam and the West. From a political, economic, or religious standpoint, what exactly is “Western” about Ground Zero and Lower Manhattan, NY?

The greatest farce today is, as this article puts it, what our opinion elites like to call the “mainstream”.

Having over the years succeeded in taking over the educational system and most organs of the major media, and nothing else of consequence, Leftists today proclaim their views and opinions "mainstream", in spite of the fact they are a distinct minority (just as what came to be known in Russia as the "Bolsheviks" (majority) were quite really "Mensheviks" (minority), despite Kerensky's fawning agreement on this important semantic point with Lenin).

We've been down this road before, and we are not impressed, and we're not going to be swayed by the rhetoric.

Our paternalistic "elites" are going to find out point blank just what "mainstream" thought is in America circa 2010 in less than 2 months. In the meantime, I must continue to suppress the urge to barf whenever I encounter this Orwellian perversion our media serves up daily telling us what's "mainstream", when in reality it is no such thing.

My work is cut out for me, but I think I can make it.

CA....
