Everyone in the article is legal? Everyone is described as immigrant.

I'm guessing wine is what caused this in the first place.

Saw this on the local news last night.

This wasn't the first encounter with this illegal. He had been threatening someone earlier.

The cops are not the bad guys in this case. It's getting so that the knee jerk reaction here is the cops are wrong without knowing any of the facts.

Nothing new. The cops in CA have been the bad guys since Rodney King and before. We've simply gone from one race to another in anti-cop sentiment, and this time it's people who are here illegally to boot.

They're simply using the old meme for their own purposes.

The shooting prompted demonstrations Monday near MacArthur Park, a densely packed neighborhood west of downtown populated with recent immigrants from Central America.

Actually, ...a densely packed neighborhood west of downtown populated with recent ILLEGAL ALIENS from Central America.

They're not "immigrants", they're ILLEGALS ! Deport them all and their anchor babies too.

Did we ask them to come here illegally? Let’s see their engraved invitations. Never mind. When will Eric Holder step in to protect their rights? Will there be a taco summit cuz the cops acted “stupidly”? Our prez hates the fuzz.

More in this article:

[snip] L.A. police, residents face off over police killing of Guatemalan

The angry crowd gathered at 6th Street and Union Avenue, a bustling corner where Los Angeles Police Department officers said they were confronted Sunday by a knife-wielding man who refused commands to drop his weapon.

The protesters, claiming the man was unarmed, used a bullhorn to shout in Spanish — "Assassination!" "Assassination!" and "We want justice!" —

At one point, police in riot gear faced off with a shouting throng near a series of memorials hung from a fence by the sidewalk where the man was killed on 6th Street. He was identified by friends as Manuel Jamines, 37, a Guatemalan immigrant who came to Los Angeles seven years ago.

At one point, protesters got into a shouting and shoving match with a store security guard, who fled to his car and sped away as people hurled objects and kicked at his vehicle.

As the crowd gathered at the corner, Guatemalan Consul General Pablo Garcia Saenz arrived to ask that people protest peacefully and assure them that his staff was in contact with the LAPD. His assistants said that a community meeting was planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Guatemalan Consulate.

"We do not want any more violence," Saenz told the crowd in Spanish.

The dearly deceased that these ‘immigrants’ are so upset about is an illegal alien Guatemalan, who was not an ‘innocent’.
Guatemala is trouble!

A Guatemala government report said that last year 27,222 of its citizens were deported from the United States and 28,800 from Mexico; Honduras estimates more than 500 of its people leave for the north every day.

Prensa Libre (Guatemala City, Guatemala) 8/29/10

Guatemalan Migrants called “heroes”

Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom, in Los Angeles, California, to inaugurate the sixth annual Guatemalan festival (Feria Chapina), called his country’s migrants “heroes” for having the courage to migrate to the US, an unknown country. Plans were revealed to construct a monument to migrants near La Aurora, Guatemala City’s international airport.

La Hora (Guatemala, Guatemala) 9/3/10

Temporary Protected Status urged for undocumented Guatemalans in US

An opinion column in La Hora concerns an appeal by a number of Guatemalan organizations requesting President Alvaro Colom to convey to the US government the necessity for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for undocumented Guatemalan migrants living in the US. The column points out, “the support of US personalities who have considered TPS to be a minimum measure of solidarity with Guatemala.”

http://www.lahora.com.gt/notas.php?key=72724&fch=2010-09-03

[Excerpt from USCIS publication: The Secretary of Homeland Security may designate a foreign country for TPS due to conditions in the country that temporarily prevent the country’s nationals from returning safely, or in certain circumstances, where the country is unable to handle the return of its nationals adequately. USCIS may grant TPS to eligible nationals of certain countries (or parts of countries), who are already in the United States.

Deported Guatemalans without work

A study by a Guatemalan human rights organization of those deported from the meat packing plant in Potsville, Iowa in May of 2008, 64% remain without work and 36% have only temporary employment. This is a reflection of the status of most Guatemalans deported back to their own country because of Guatemala’s lack of development opportunities, the study found. “They emigrate and are exploited for their labor. On returning they are victims of the incapability of the State to reestablish them.” The study also showed that 98% of those deported from Iowa were in debt [assumption: smuggling fees], but only 12% have already paid them.

Guatemalan youth migration a worry

A Guatemalan youth study indicates that 50% of Guatemalan youths have either tried to travel illegally to the US or have thought of trying. Those that try go into debt to pay between the equivalent of $5,000 to $7,000 to “coyotes” to smuggle them north, but often are abandoned in Mexico and left to their own luck. Those who make it back home are left with huge debts and no way to pay them off. Those experiences do not seem to dissuade others from trying.

Mexico detains 61 illegal immigrants from Guatemala and Ecuador

Chiapas, Mexico – A total of 61 undocumented immigrants from Guatemala and Ecuador were detained while being guided by smugglers in a wooded zone of the southern Mexican state of Chiapas, according to Mexican immigration officials (INM). The office received a call reporting the smuggling operation Friday night and dispatched agents to the area where they made the arrests. The two guides escaped, but the 61 aliens were taken into custody for processing. There were 53 Guatemalans and 8 Ecuadorians. More than 500,000 foreigners enter Mexico illegally each year en route to the US, according to the National Commission for Human Rights.

“Now its Guatemalans. More illegal alien scum for the American people to endure.”

I find it very curious that EVERY time one of their own criminal illegal aliens get killed, they take to the streets demanding ‘justice’...like they have ANY idea of justice...justice would be keeping their whining butts out of here in the first place, and sending ALL of them home!
