Members of the New Black Panther Party showed up in Gainesville Monday to let The Dove World Outreach Center know it is outraged by its plan to burn the Koran.
"I believe in peace but if you aggress me, I am going to fight back," said State Chairman of the New Black Panther Party Mikhail Muhammad.
The church plans to burn the holy book Saturday on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The pastor's plan has reached all the way to Afghanistan where Monday hundeds of demonstrators burned a cardboard effigy of the Gainesville pastor, Terry Jones.
"We are not surprised at all that they are responding in that way because that's the nature of Sharia law, that's the nature of violent Islam," said Jones.

"We basically want to warn Pastor Terry Jones that if he burns this Koran, he's going to insight a wrath and chastisement on himself that he will not be able to bare (sic) and all he's going to do is add more division between Muslims and Christians when we should be sitting down at the table to resolve our differences," said Muhammad.
The New Black Panther Party say it will be back in Gainesville Saturday to show the church and the world they won't stand for religious hatred.

There are times that I wonder if we have enough brave men and women today.
OK, so don’t burn it, take a dump on it.
Spiritual discernment on the matter of destroying names cannot be over emphasized.
For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought. After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, [even] as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. - Acts 5:34-39
And one of them, [named] Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death. - John 11:47-53
However, I don't see any Scriptural support for either a) going out and burning other people's property--which the Bible would define as theft--or b) going out and buying a pagan book or idol for the express purpose of burning it. First of all, in buying the book to burn it, you're handing the publisher enough money to print three more. Secondly, it signifies nothing, since you're not repenting of any sin of your own. And thirdly, it closes doors to the Gospel by creating a viceral reaction in Muslims to no purpose.
Now, if a former Muslim who has given his life to Messiah believes that the best way to sever the ties with his old life and demonstrate his faith in Yeshua is to publicly burn his old Islamic reading material, I have no argument. If a church which somehow got caught up in an ecumenical movement later repented and wanted to make a show of burning the false religious material it accumulated during that time of apostasy, cool.
But in this case? Is the pastor repenting of something? Removing a harmful influence from his flock? Are any Muslims turning to the true Prophet and Messiah because of this?
Of course, if he backs down now, it will be seen as yet another victory for Islam, so heck if I know how to salvage the situation at this point.
Shalom.
There isn't an editor on the planet worth his or her salary anymore.
I doubt that he’ll do it, but the Florida “minister” should, on Friday, call of the Quran burning, noting that he never intended to really do it, but to illustrate that Christians demonstrably come out and oppose such insensitive actions by those associated with Christianity, while noting that Muslims and liberals have no concern about the sensitivities of 9/11 victims about the Cordoba mosque or the 9/11 terror attacks. Contrast the liberal outrage at the announced Quran burnings with the elephant dung Mary “painting” and “Piss Christ” (a crucifix submerged in urine masqerading as art).
You are right. And above all, don’t do anything to insult a muslim. Of course, anytime an infidel draws a breath, it is an insult to muslims.
When muslims burn Christian Churches, or Hindu places of worship for that matter, where is the outrage on this forum? Oh, granterd there is few, but, nothing like the muslim defenders on an earlier thread.
Again, when muslims cut the heads off and probably gang rape 12 and 14 year old Christian,of Hindu, girls, or any one else they please where is the outcry? I understand that as long as the muslims are doing it,it is just a case of boys being boys or boys having fun. Nothing to get one’s panties in a wad over. And other times when they get bored they blow up a few Israelis. But again, nothing to get ones self in a tizzy over.
They have, in my opinion, a child molestor for a prophet and a book that would not even make good ponorgraphy that they call “holy”. Again, in my opinion, th only thing “holy” about the quran is if it is being used for target practice.
You get the point. It doesn’t look wise. Petraeus didn’t go into great detail, but a fourth problem is in trying to cement diplomatic relations with Islamic groups, troublesome enough in any context, in the volatile, wildcat atmosphere of Afghanistan.
Now maybe this church? IS trying to yank the rug out from under Obama by fanning the flames of Islamic discontent, without caring what a (presumable) President Palin will be able to do in trying to pick up the pieces.
Either one has to be committed to be utterly in the face of Muslims or else one is a “Muslim defender.” You are not the only one here who has committed this fallacy of the excluded middle.
You are going to wait a long, long, long time. My guess is that hell will be frozsen over and thawed out 10 times.
You must be blind to what goes on here. Honor killings and beheadings get hundreds of comments on FR every time such an event is reported in the mass media — and every single comment condemns them.
“And your point is?”
It’s between God and the person.
I went there Oct 09, talked to my kid about it— he was OK with whatever was to be— he would take responsibility if we were not there to do that.
That baby was lost, but I learned much from my family and expecting...I learned you can expect more from family than you ever dreamed.
My point is— it’s a deep, thoughtful, decision and I will NEVER judge another over it.
The apologists are too busy pretending to be in the middle to do that.
salvador dali time?
Wow. Amazing post, dear sister in Christ
The wisdom of Gamaliel is spot on and a timely Divine reminder. Thanks.
The pertinent question is why this particular text and why this particular time.
Any fool can claim to “feel led of the Lord.” Whether the feeling reflects reality is another question.
You would, of course, abandon “leave them alone” in an instant if something goring an ox of your own was to take place.
