Why Christine?

Side By Side Comparison of Christine O’Donnell & Mike Castle:
Jobs Voted for Nancy Pelosi’s cap and tax energy scheme which would kill 6,117 Delaware jobs and also voted for the job-killing minimum wage hike. Believes jobs are created when businesses are freed from endless taxes and bureaucratic red tape.
Security Voted with liberals in Congress to handicap our intelligence and military agencies. Believes terrorism is an act of war requiring the full force of our intelligence and military resources rather than granting terrorists precious Constitutional rights and outsourcing our foreign policy to the U.N.
Debt Voted to increase the national debt & consistently supports Washington’s reckless spending. Believes heaping trillions in debt on the backs of our grandchildren is immoral and that Congress is elected to make the hard choices to preserve our nation’s future prosperity.
Taxes Voted to keep the death tax, to increase taxes by $3,100 on every American family, and to remove the protection of the middle class from dramatic tax increases originally intended to hit <200 of the richest Americans. Will fight to remove the crushing tax burden faced by American families and businesses and dramatically simplify the tax code.
Life Voted to subject children to out-of-state abortions without consent of parents, voted to use U.S. funds to support Planned Parenthood at home and abroad, supports human cloning, and sponsored the bill to destroy, exploit and experiment on unborn children as scientific lab-rats. Strongly believes in protecting the sanctity of life at ALL stages.
Energy Voted to ban exploration for American energy, keeping gas prices high, to prohibit drilling in America’s land and waters, and to ban building new oil refineries. Supports a market-based approach to energy solutions that will keep competition high and energy prices low.
Values Voted to allow liberal activist judges to strip “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance, against the Constitutional protection of marriage, and against educational choice for parents with children in failing schools. Believes our country was founded on core values of faith, family and freedom and will fight to defend those values. Will always fight for maximum choice for parents about where to educate their kids, including private, parochial and charter schools or in the home.
Spending Voted to spend billions on failed stimulus packages & bailouts. Believes unrestrained government spending is eroding our freedom, destroying our economy and ceding our sovereignty to foreign debt- holders like China.
Accountability Voted to protect 103 outrageous pork projects that would lead to corruption and waste. Denounces corrupt pork-barrel politics, including earmarks, and will fight for increased transparency and performance information for every Federal program.
Healthcare Remained undecided about Pelosi’s government takeover of healthcare until 4 days before vote. Believes that the solution to the healthcare crisis is less government meddling in the doctor/patient relationship, more competition in the insurance market and more choice for families about their health plan.
Gun Control Received an “F” rating from the NRA, indicating a strong anti-2nd Amendment position. Christine’s strong support of 2nd Amendment rights has earned her an “A” rating from the NRA.

She's "right" on all the issues and yet, she has a lot of significant personal issues that cannot be explained away as unfair attacks by Castle and the RNC. I'm generally included to support someone like O'Donnell but she sounds like a grifter—no real job, no income, using campaign cash to pay her rent. She says the right things but has accomplished nothing. Conservatism has its share of lightweight losers and O'Donnell is one. She has to explain those personal issues in a credible way. Otherwise, if I were in Delaware I'd vote Castle even though I think he's way to squishy on a number of important issues.

When the hell is DE primary? Three days before the general? Its so short of time to pivot out of a primary scrap to handle your general opponent.

No doubt (just look @ his history) that Castle is a RINO, and fingers crossed that Ms. O'Donnell wins, but is there proof that Castle would switch parties?

Specter was a Rat before becoming a RINO and back; I don't see that with Castle, he's always been a RINO.

Again, may the better candidate (Ms. O'Donnell) win, but where are these fears that Castle would switch parties coming from?

I view this as no lose. Even if Christine wins the primary, but loses the election, it will send a lesson to RINOs everywhere.

We came home today (Baltimore area) from Ocean City and counted signs just for the heck of it. Traveling US rt. 113 and Del rt. 1.

61 - O’Donnell
16 - Castle

Most of the Castle signs were a little larger and there was one bill-board sized but, 61 to 16. Wow.
Also all but one of the Castle signs were in the northern most county, New Castle.

As an out-of-stater, it looks like O’Donnell has a lot of ground support. We need to win this one and we can. Please donate.

With Castle’s pro-illegals and pro-gay marriage stances, first and foremost, I just hope the scumbag LOSES, whether in the primary or the general.

True conservatives should base their votes on principle, not on any other set of criteria.

These words are from Sen. Zacharias Montgomery in 1886, in a book he wrote defending his stand on the matter of what he called "anti-parental" education of children (public schools). His thoughts are good for all who defend what is right over political expediency:

"If I have learned anything from the reading of history, it is that the man who, in violation of great principles, toils for temporary fame, purchases for himself either total oblivion or eternal infamy, while he who temporarily goes down battling for right principles always deserves, and generally secures, the gratitude of succeeding ages, and will carry with him the sustaining solace of a clean conscience, more precious than all the offices and honors in the gift of man."

Tolerating RINOs in the Republican Party does nothing but confuse the electorate. Even if Christine is a screw-up in Congress, the known RINO goes down. If she becomes a RINO, then she can still be defeated in the next primary. I don’t think the Tea Party movement is going to stall before then. There will be another candidate to choose.

Looking at the original source, not the cheerleading link posted, this is a TEA PARTY EXPRESS POLL. And unsurprisingly, it gives a result exactly consistent with the message of the campaign.

“However, it is worth taking these numbers with a grain of salt. The poll was conducted by NSON Opinion Research with live interviewers. It surveyed 300 DE Republican voters and has a margin of error of +/- 5.7%.

It is also worth noting that the survey was conducted Aug. 31-Sept. 1. Since then, the media scrutiny on O’Donnell has intensified and she has committed some missteps. Most notably, she gave a disastrous interview on Dan Gaffney’s radio show on Thursday. There are also new reports that O’Donnell only recently earned her college degree, 17 years after she left the school.”

Smells like a partisan push-poll, plus a wide margin of error. I’ll be interested if the next independent Rasmussen poll comes out anywhere near this.

And my question is answered more quickly then I expected. New Rasmussen poll just released. No material change from August to September. Castle still the winner. O’Donnell still the loser.

“Castle earning 48% of the vote, while Coons gets 37% support. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, and nine percent (9%) remain undecided. The race is little changed from early last month, when Castle held a 49% to 37% edge over Coons”.

“Coons leads conservative activist Christine O’Donnell, who is challenging Castle for the GOP Senate nomination in a primary next Tuesday, by a 47% to 36% margin. Given that matchup, eight percent (8%) prefer another candidate, while nine percent (9%) are undecided.”

This independent poll one can take seriously.
