So if the Senate ends up 49D and 51R, you don’t think Castle would be getting a call from Reid? And are you at all certain Castle couldn’t be bribed into a switch? It doesn’t seem like an unlikely scenario to me.

I have seen this movie before. the GOP establishment did the same thing to Palin, Haley, Handel, Rand Paul, Sharon Angle, etc etc. they know they can not win on the issues, their voting record etc so they go negative and smear the other guy and try to get the voters to see them as unacceptable.

I find it amazing that all these attacks started the day after Lisa lost in AK. The GOP establishment must be destroyed.

I did read her response the other day. I just dont find it satisfactory. On FOX, she claimed no lien ever existed. That is apparently not true.

She also says she didnt know about a foreclosure notice on her house, but the court record shows she was personally served.

I understand that issues like these are less important to most folks around here than Castle’s record. I am just not convinced that the typical voter can dismiss this sort of thing and admittedly doubt that she will prevail in the primary.

>>>No. It’s just another accusation thrown out there in desperation,<<<

LOL, maybe I had something to do with that - voiced my opinion to a Castle staffer...

At the Great Conservative Cookout Kate from Castle’s office slinked through - knowing me she tried to open a dialog.
She asked me to wear a Castle sticker - I said Nope, I told you last year that I can not support Mike again... She said but you know what you will have with him in office - I said Yep - another Specter - she said no, no, but what about the November election to which I said one word - Rasmussen - she then decided that her horses had not been fed and she had to hurry home...

So, maybe that is what started it - my opinion. I have no clue, but they sure tried to deny that - think about it - Castle wants to get in the Senate so he can be more ‘Independent’ (and I don’t think that means Conservative) His previous highs were in approving designs for quarters and naming post offices - then he got in with the liberal crowd and he now had some clout. I would see him be another Jim Jeffords or Arlen Specter... Easily! If Dems promise him a chairmanship if he does caucus with them, maybe bigger office, more staff - if it is 51-49, I can see him jump at the chance (remember Biden would swing the 50-50 balance - Castle would blab something about he was doing the right thing to justify it... So it is absolutely possible!

Legal records are pretty damning.

I think the intelligent voters will look over the slate and see that Jesus is not among the choices, and realize that the others are all imperfect...

Since the lien was issued in error would it have satisfied your standards if she had said no "valid" IRS lien ever existed?

>>>>>...is there proof that Castle would switch parties?

No. It’s just another accusation thrown out there in desperation, making Miss O’Donnell look more like a nutcase.<<<<

This is what redstate said on 8.2 about those rumors, and he is fairly well connected, I believe...

http://www.redstate.com/erick/2010/08/02/why-is-mike-castle-running-from-christine-odonnell/

“If Mike Castle becomes the next United States Senator from Delaware he is going to get sworn in, serve a bit, then become a Democrat, resign, and let Beau Biden get an appointment.

It’s a done deal. The deal has been made already. I’m hearing this not just from Christine O’Donnell people, but party regulars in Delaware, some of whom support Castle. It is insane.

Maybe that is why Mike Castle is running from Christine O’Donnell. He is afraid to have to answer questions about this. The man will not debate her to save his life.”

He is hearing it from ODonnell’s people and party regulars in DE who support Castle...

You keep posting things about Christine that are demonstrably untrue...

More importantly, if DE is half the sewer - politically - that people describe it, I don’t have any problem believing that... looks like a 2fer to me... in 6 mos biden and castle...

What really really concerns me is - people are wasting time and energy debating: is this a lie - if this isn’t - how much truth to the statement - I heard this rumor - here’s a link to prove this or that and meanwhile...

meanwhile... fill in the blank... I’ll just say the dems march on...

We are debating Christine’s worthiness to hold office in an institution filled with corruption cowardice cronyism and probably a whole lot of ongoing crime... some of those criminals you probably voted for; there are those who want to debate her moral adequacy while the clock is ticking.

I believe in morals principles honor... I try my best to base my life on them... only right now - the titanic is going under - christine is holding a seat on the lifeboat...and some people would rather not sit next to her... oh man, are we maybe missing the big picture here, just a little...

Looking at the original source, not the cheerleading link posted, this is a TEA PARTY EXPRESS POLL. And unsurprisingly, it gives a result exactly consistent with the message of the campaign.

“However, it is worth taking these numbers with a grain of salt. The poll was conducted by NSON Opinion Research with live interviewers. It surveyed 300 DE Republican voters and has a margin of error of +/- 5.7%.

It is also worth noting that the survey was conducted Aug. 31-Sept. 1. Since then, the media scrutiny on O’Donnell has intensified and she has committed some missteps. Most notably, she gave a disastrous interview on Dan Gaffney’s radio show on Thursday. There are also new reports that O’Donnell only recently earned her college degree, 17 years after she left the school.”

Smells like a partisan push-poll, plus a wide margin of error. I’ll be interested if the next independent Rasmussen poll comes out anywhere near this.

she sounds like a grifter—no real job, no income, using campaign cash to pay her rent. She says the right things but has accomplished nothing.
Sounds like she'd fit right in on Capitol Hill.

And my question is answered more quickly then I expected. New Rasmussen poll just released. No material change from August to September. Castle still the winner. O’Donnell still the loser.

“Castle earning 48% of the vote, while Coons gets 37% support. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, and nine percent (9%) remain undecided. The race is little changed from early last month, when Castle held a 49% to 37% edge over Coons”.

“Coons leads conservative activist Christine O’Donnell, who is challenging Castle for the GOP Senate nomination in a primary next Tuesday, by a 47% to 36% margin. Given that matchup, eight percent (8%) prefer another candidate, while nine percent (9%) are undecided.”

This independent poll one can take seriously.

The only poll that counts is the Nov. poll

Unfortunately for O'Donnell that is not quite true. The Sept 14 poll is the one that counts, which is why losing ground in the polls between July to August is a significant blow to her chances.

Unless of course you believe Matt Moran (O'Donnell's campaign manager) that Rasmussen is colluding with the NRSC to make her look unelectable (lol).

Well, for both candidates the primary is the one that matters, since that will determine who gets to compete for the seat.

And you pro-Castle guys better get used to the fact that we conservatives aren't concerned with Castle winning under any circumstances.

Castle is a liberal who shouldn't be rewarded for his liberal votes in the House with a Senate seat.

So, Castle could have a 50pt lead and I could care less.

[...] Also all but one of the Castle signs were in the northern most county, New Castle.

As an out-of-stater, it looks like O’Donnell has a lot of ground support. We need to win this one and we can.

Makes sense. I've seen 2 O'Donnell signs in New Castle County...
...and they weren't up simultaneously.

She's focusing on Kent and Sussex because she didn't get whipped as badly there last time. She considers her 57-43 loss to Joe Biden in Kent County a "win" or "tie"...unfortunately, the population of Sussex (where she lost to Joe Biden by only a few hundred votes) is only about 1/3 of New Castle County's (where she lost by a whopping 72-28 ratio...!!!)

It's fun to fantasize about a good conservative candidate winning in this state where three out of four voters went for the (non-incumbent) Democrat for governor, but I don't think we have such a candidate. Even if she wins, we'll have a candidate of questionable character. :-(

I think it's a wakeup call to conservatives to run good candidates even in what's usually considered a foregone conclusion election. Colorado is having the same problem--running a candidate who has now been caught with character issues.

BTW, can anyone confirm that this is the guy she lives with (and who works on her campaign)? David Hust?

Finally, I hope that Sean Hannity isn't saying the true problems with Christine O'Donnell are "smears."

She’s right now on Hannity bringing up the JULY poll again...ignoring today’s poll.
