If Democrats are headed for electoral disaster this November, you wouldn't know it from listening to their leaders. "I can assure you that despite the Washington summer political chatter, reports of the House Democrats' demise are greatly exaggerated," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

I'll be looking forward to seeing smartass choke on those words come November.

I am delighted to see SC-5 getting some national attention. Living, as my screen name implies, in southern NC, I am in fact only a couple of miles from Spratt's district, which sprawls across northern SC, just south of Charlotte, NC. In fact, it has been transitioning from rural to Charlotte exurban/suburban. It's a conservative district, and getting more conservative each year.
Spratt is no "blue dog." He has advanced through the Dem seniority chain, and has become an elder spokesman who hews, for the most part, to the national Dem line. He did work hard to keep a military base in his district open, so he has some credentials there. But he has been on board with health care, the bailouts, termination of the Bush tax cuts, and other standard Dem boilerplate items.
It's time for him to go. And he will -- I think this year, but if not, then after redistricting in 2011, a process which will be controlled by the Republicans in the SC Legislature. His opponent this year is State Senator Mick Mulvaney, who seems to be running a good campaign, though he's financially outgunned by Spratt. Anyone looking to make a donation in a close race, where it could make a difference, should consider this one.
The race for Delaware’s at large Congressional seat looks interesting, including a fairly competitive Republican primary.
They need to add the one of the most Liberal Senators Patty Murray vs. Dino Rossi here in Washington State.
When is Dino Rossi going to grow a pair of balls? He runs ads about how he swept the floor at the Space Needle, but wont attack Murray for being an Obama stooge. Murray has supported Obama’s socialist agenda since Day 1. Rossi needs to go on the offense, or he will be a 3 time loser in Washington State. If its close, the King County Democrats will steal the election from him.
Texas 17 pits a Republican, Bill Flores, against Chet “Dimples” Edwards, a real Nancy-boy who is so beloved by her that she was pumping for him to be BO’s running mate in 08. He is a conservative every two years when he is running for office. Unfortunately, he has about 3 million dollars to spend on TV ads, about twice as much as the lesser-known Flores, but he could be defeated this year due to the disgust of Texas voter toward all Democrats.
I am in Dist 17 of Texas. I can’t get a feel for how the race is going even at this late date. Not much advertising is being made on either side. Chet has sent out some emails on how great he is and what he has done for the troops around here. Flores is quiet as a church mouse.

No, this one certainly belongs on the list. Fiorina will be much better than Boxer. Boxer the Obama loving witch needs to go. These libtards didn’t get here overnight and it will take time to get a real conservative in here.
I know, and its driving me crazy. He is missing so many opportunities. When asked to give a statement on the end of combat in Iraq, do you think he would mention Patty Murray was against the surge, saying it would not work? Nope, not Rossi. I am told he may be holding back until after Labor Day. We'll see what happens.
Unless Rand Paul does something incredibly stupid over the next two months, he should win that campaign handily. The latest poll (SUSA) had him up by 15% over Conway.
Up until a few months ago, I used to still see Obama stickers on quite a few cars, now there are only one or two still wandering around.
We were in the Fifth District over the long weekend, and I was very encouraged by the number of “SackSpratt” signs that I saw and by the Mulvaney ads on TV.
I still see a few Obama stickers. By now, they’re about as common as Kerry stickers. Impeach Obama stickers are starting to show up.
I actually saw a freshly-applied Kennedy/Johnson sticker the other day. I think I still have an old Goldwater sticker packed away somewhere. Maybe this is the right year for that!
