U.S. Embassy Reaffirms U.S. Respect for Islam (Obama Condemns 1st Amend. Protected Koran Burning)
U.S. Embassy in Kabul ^ | Monday, September 6, 2010

Posted on 09/06/2010 10:20:39 AM PDT by kristinn

The United States government in no way condones such acts of disrespect against the religion of Islam, and is deeply concerned about deliberate attempts to offend members of religious or ethnic groups.

The embassy wants to emphasize that we strongly condemn the offensive messages, which are contrary to U.S. government policy and deeply offensive to Muslims especially during the month of Ramadan.

President Obama made clear in Cairo in his speech on June 4, 2009 that he considers it part of his responsibility as President to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they occur. And during his recent Iftar speech at the White House he said: “Let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country.”

Americans from all religious and ethnic backgrounds reject the offensive initiative by this small group in Florida. A great number of American voices are protesting the hurtful statements made by this organization. Numerous interfaith and religious groups in America are actively working to counter this kind of ignorance and misinformation that is offensive to so many people in the U.S. and around the world.

Just a few days ago, President Obama’s Special Envoy to the OIC, Rashad Hussain visited Afghanistan, reaching out to political leaders, religious leaders, students and all citizens of Afghanistan, communicating the important message of friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the U.S. and Muslim communities all around the world.

It is interesting to compare and contrast this statement with the recent statement on the killings of the 10 Christian ministry aid workers:

Secretary Clinton's Statement on Killing of Medical Aid Workers in Afghanistan - U.S. Embassy Kabul, Afghanistan:

Terror has no religion, and these acts are rejected by people all over the world, including by countless Muslims here in our country, in Afghanistan, and everywhere else. As President Obama said in Cairo, the Quran teaches that taking one innocent life is like killing all humanity, and saving one innocent life is like saving all humanity.

Besides the obvious point that Clinton sidestepped the fact that these workers were killed primarily because they were Christians --it would seem, according to the Administration, that terror has no religion when Christians are killed by Muslims; however, terror does have a religion when the Koran is burned by Christians...

On one hand we see apologies for errant book burning Christians with talk of religious tolerance in America while on the other hand we see by actions the passive support of religious intolerance in Afghanistan and no condemnations of such -rather a sidestep regarding the religiously motivated killings of Christians by Muslims...

...and yet Muslims can stomp on America’s flag...yell out death to America on our own streets....and there is silence from this administration...so deafening you can hear a pin drop.

” Talk to anyone currently there, on the ground, in Afghanistan or Iraq, with Special Operations Forces or Intel.

Been there (OCONUS-AF), done that with the CNP-AF, MoI-AF, Blackwater, SOF, etc. And yes, I have stories.

And I call BS on your prognostication.

They have sophisticated propaganda operations...there will be videos all over youtube and a hundred other sites.

Are you still talking about our theater of operations in AF or ar you talking about the Islamo-nutjobs in general? And can you address ANY of the problems I saw in your little scenario from the previous post or are you stuck on this mischaracterization of what is happening over there?

Again, your description for AF is laughable. YouTube? LOL!!

Our safehouse had an extremely costly satellite link out of Hong Kong just to get barely broad-band internet speeds and we had to fight just for enough bandwidth at 2AM to Skype friends and relatives back home - yet you invision your typical illiterate AF goat herder surfing youtube videos?

The “network” connection in the Qandahar police station consisted of a Brit wandering across the street (in daylight) with a flash drive, downloading what needed to be transmited over the network, wandering back to his camp and uploading it over their sat link.

get real.”

I agree and could care less what these American hating animals think.

If courts affirm we have the freedom to burn the flag, then by God we also have the right to burn korans.....or use them as toilet paper.

And what will that do to accomplish your objectives?

Utterly barbaric and shows the nature of these inhuman Islamic people.....and they are here...just a matter of time before they will be allowed to practice this bloody ritual on our very streets...in the name of religious freedom.

As long as we are paralyzed by our fear of offending Muslims, they will have the upper hand. They will manipulate the situation constantly to their advantage, holding out the possibility of a little short-term cessation of violence, while the eventual goal remains ever the same.

I say, the heck with it. We should let them rant and rave. We should let them blow themselves up. If kow-towing to Islam is the price of success in Afghanistan, the price is too damn high.

There is no such thing as success in Afghanistan, anyway. Short of eliminating Islam, there is no such thing as success in any Muslim country.

The fact is anything you do is bound to offend somebody, somewhere.

BINGO! Plus, nothing we do short of giving them a jet plane and tall building will make them happy. (That comment is not meant to be cute or witty. It is the reality in which we live. It is a bitter truth a some people have forgotten.)The only time they are happy is when their enemies (ie non-muslims) are experiencing death and destruction.

These Muslims must learn that we do not FEAR them as that is exactly how it will be interpreted should we ever back down.

They think we are weak and 9/11 is a example of that.

If they think we are weak, we get attacked. If we provoke them with blasphemy, they attack but in greater numbers because there are moderate Muslims. Moderate Muslims usually avoid the crazed radical Muslims. They don't dare speak out for fear of losing their heads.

But if we start burning Korans, despite what I and many think of that hateful religion, those moderate Muslims will join the radicals and present an even greater threat.

I believe in showing strength and attacking much harder than your attackers once you've been attacked. But we don't have the strength to fight the entire Muslim world.

Why do we have to stoop the radicals' level here and abroad?

If there are truly moderate Muslims, they should understand that this is just an isolated Church in the boonies, and is not reflective of the entire population, that is if they truly are moderate.

I have to question just how moderate they are if they let something so trivial get to them like this, as if their faith is so fragile, that some little backwoods church in Florida could possibly matter.

The US is involved in an existential struggle against all of Islam. The sooner we start acting like it, the better.

Burning a few Korans is a good start.

I agree, except for the burning of Korans part.

Nowhere on Earth is this done because people have the sense to understand the degree to which Muslims revere the Koran and how violently they will react.

It's the ultimate blasphemy in Islam, is it not?

We only multiply the number of our enemies and increase the flow of oil money to the radical jihadists.

Using your logic, the media couldn’t and didn’t do any harm to our troops when they fabricated the koran-in-the-toilet myth because muslims are already maxed out in violence and that little spike in violence was just random coincidence and not because the media fanned the flames.

So what you are saying is that even if this Church didn't really burn a Koran, that as long as someone thinks a church might do it or that it is falsely reported as happening, that Muslims will go insane and start blowing themselves up all over the world.

I could only hope that every last one of them would blow themselves up the day after this event. That would solve the problem.

Well, they're moderate by Muslim standards, not by ours, but they are mostly content to pray to Allah and not try to saw off the heads of infidels. I don't think they look at their faith as so fragile but as something that is the biggest part of their identity.

I'm not calling for it to be stopped by any outside force, even if scores of Americans die because of it, because freedom of speech even protects nihilistic morons. I just want America to win this war against Islamic domination.
