A Month in the life of George W. Bush (News and many Photos) September 2005
georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news ^ | September 5, 2010

Posted on 09/05/2010 5:29:14 PM PDT by Kaslin

The month of September 2005 was a very busy month for President Bush after Katrina came on land at the Gulf coast and damaged the area. We see President Bush and First Lady Laura visiting New Orleans and other affected areas in Louisiana and Mississippi to comfort the victims of the hurricane and bring aid
The country lost Chief Justice William Renquist who passed away on September 3, 2005
President Bush nominated Judge Roberts to become the next Chief Supreme Court Justice. On September 29th Justice Roberts was sworn in as the 20th? Supreme Court Chief Justice.
President Bush remembered 9/11 heroes at a Medal of Valor ceremony. He also met with several foreign leaders and addressed the Useless Nations
For the quote of the month I have chosen President Bush’s Remarks which he gave at the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service on September 16, 2005

I had to turn it off, Deb. I was getting two clear versions a milisecond apart, and it was driving me crazy.

Will the Reagan Library have it available for viewing, do you think? I'd love to hear it monophonic. ;)

Thank goodness I checked here tonight! I'm watching OUR President now on Leno. Such a shame ALLlllll those people hate him so much and are showing such disdain for him.

God love him! He is doing great!!!

Thanks DrDeb ... without you I would miss everything!

Yes!! Lots of applause, and he is just so darn appealing. Very self effacing, and joking. A good show.

I got a FB update from GWB that he was going to be on - thank goodness, otherwise I would not have known.

Lots of applause from the audience when he said he thought the world was better off without Saddam in power.

Well, duh!

Leno said that Saddam had threatened his daughters. Like put a hit out on them. I have never heard that. I remember the creepy sons had pictures of them on their walls. Ewww.

He is going great.

That last segment was so good. Life after the White House. W is anxious for a grandchild - Get going Henry. Leno says ask Henry what sex is like after 30 !! LOL Our W says no I quit drinking.

I hope you all get to see it - maybe the NBC website. It was very good.

Yeah...the applause was constant. Nearly everytime he opened his mouth they had to wait for the applause to die down before they could continue.

I had never heard that about the threat to the girls either. As closely as we have followed his presidency it is strange we have never heard about that. Of course, had the enemedia reported such a thing there would have been even more sympathy and support given to him. Now we know why we never heard about it.

What a great show. Leno was great and OUR President did a wonderful job. He looks good! Relaxed and happy.

Bryan Interviews President George W. Bush Backstage, Posted By Bryan on November 18, 2010 5:35 PM

Tonight we had the 43rd President of the United States on the show. I was lucky enough to talk with him backstage and ask him some of your Jay Leno Facebook fan questions! Be sure to tune in tonight for Jay’s great interview with the former President.

Cute, short interview. There's a question about "Barney."

Thank you for finding it again. I had to sign off because I had to take my nephew to football practice yesterday. I knew one of you sleuths would track it down again.

Thanks again.

Well yesterday was a very good day for me because I was fortunate enough to be a part of the audience of the Tonight Show where President Bush was the guest! I am so lucky to live in Southern California because I'm close enough to go the "entertainment capital of the world." My goodness, this is an experience I will never, ever forget for the rest of my life.

You see, awhile back I knew that GWB was going to be in town to attend the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California on Nov. 18th and I had a feeling he would stop by at the Tonight Show on the same day because I'd known in the past that his wife Laura and Condi Rice, Dick Cheney, Jenna and Karl Rove have appeared on that show and so it was only appropriate that GWB would follow in their footsteps as well. So last month I decided to book a reservation for two tickets for November 18th and got the tickets through my email account a few weeks later. Then when it was confirmed that President Bush was going to be on the show on Thursday, Nov. 18th, I was absolutely right!

So yesterday, I invited my cousin to come with me to the show and we got there to the NBC Studios in Burbank sometime after 1:00pm and there were a least about 100 people already waiting in line. We had to wait for quite awhile and didn't get into the studio building until around 3:15pm. Once my cousin and I were seated inside the studio, the energy and the excitement was already in the air. We didn't get to sit in the front row (the studio pages make the seating arrangements) but we sat fairly close enough to see the front stage because the stage set is not that terribly big.

Jay Leno comes out and does his usual clever jokes and goes through his monologue. And then after the three minute break was over, the magical moment came when President Bush came out on stage and everyone stood up and cheered (including my cousin and I, of course)You should seen the overwhelming thunderous applause GWB received. This was like being at a rock concert, only difference was that the people there was on their best behavior and no one was high on drugs!

Boy, it was so wonderful to see President Bush at his best funny and relaxed self. He is a natural comedian and every joke and quip he told kept everyone in stitches. I couldn't stop laughing my head off. The loudest applause he got was when he said he best thing he did during his presidency was to keep this country safe and protect it from another terrorist attack. Amen! Music to my ears!

Another cool thing that happened was that one of the pages asked if anyone brought their copy of "Decision Points" because GWB was willing to sign copies of it during the commercial break. A handful of people did bring their books. Darn it! I wish I'd brought my copy along! I would have walked out that studio with an autographed book in my hand. So during the break, President Bush graciously signed copies of those books and I watched him signed those books at an amazing speed.

President Bush stayed on the stage for approximately 25 minutes or so and then it was time for him to go. Of course all of us in the audience gave him another standing ovation. But a few minutes later, he came back out again for an encore because he, Jay and the singer Jewel had to tape a promo commercial for the show to be aired for the East Coast. It was also fun to see them messing up on their lines and do retakes. When that was over, President Bush finally left and we all cheered him loudly again.

It was almost 5:00pm when my cousin and I left the studio. We felt like walking on Cloud 9. There was a euphoria and happiness I haven't felt in such a long time. It was such a privilege to sit in the same building and watch a great leader and living legend live and in person. I didn't mention anything about my trip to all of you this week because I wanted to keep this a surprise so I could write a full account of it here after I got back from the show. So thank you for taking the time to read my memorable experience. I hope you all enjoyed it!

pattyvita, THANK YOU! Your recount of your experience is terrific! Thank you for sharing this.....felt like I was there too.

I’m so glad you and your cousin got to see W and hear him interact with Leno and the audience. And, once again, he showed how ‘connected’ he is to ‘every day’ people.....offering to sign copies of his book was a wonderful gesture. Also very happy to hear of the warm reception and standing ovations for our dear W.

Great, great account of your experience! So happy for you....and thank you, once again, for including the rest of us!
