U.S. Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts is in Illinois today to raise money for fellow Republican Mark Kirk. Brown made national headlines when he won the seat long held by liberal lion Edward Kennedy.
In two fundraising events today in Chicago and later in suburban Lisle, Brown is expected to raise about $200,000 for Kirk, officials with Kirks campaign said.

BARF!
This the best we can hope for in Illinois.
No wonder so much angst in your title. A Republican senator is trying to assist the Republican nominee to take the Obama senate seat away from the Illinois dems.
Bingo. The choice is A or B, simple as that. I get tired of people with the shrill "RINO" tag. A or B. Choose.
Exactly. Would they have been happier if he was there to raise money for his opponent?
Choose your battles wisely and prepare your defenses even more so. We are going to have to deal with RINO’s in the midst anyway. Prepare to do battle with them in the Senate rather than with the other party.
Isn’t the primary over in Illinois?
This isn't about Republican vs. Democrat.
This is about conservative vs. liberal.
Unfortunately for Illinois, the race is now pitted between two liberals. And, instead of encouraging more RINO-ism by rewarding RINOs with their votes, conservatives should step back and let the RINO die on the vine by voting for third-party conservatives or not voting for the office of Senator from Illinois at all.
Primary or not...doesn’t stop me from attacking liberals of all stripes.
And Mark Kirk is a super-liberal.
Chicago Tribune and Politico articles demeaning Republicans as ‘rino’s’...yeah that makes me believe them....Journolista’s.
Ahh I see.
So you’d let somebody that supports the Obama agenda get elected and work against us.
Forrest, see the forest.
What makes you sure that RINOs will support your agenda over the liberal Rat agenda?
Fellow RINOs.
“What makes you sure that RINOs will support your agenda over the liberal Rat agenda?”
Just a little research and common sense. I can guarantee you that you won’t get this from the Chicago Machine Dem you would allow to win.
“Mark Kirk voted for the 2001 and 2003 tax relief packages and supports making this tax relief permanent.
Last year, Congressman Kirk voted against a budget plan to raise taxes by $1.5 trillion and triple the debt over the next 10 years (S.Con.Res 13).
The year before, Congressman Kirk voted against a plan to raise taxes by at least $683 billion over the next five years (S.Con.Res. 70) and a proposal to raise the 10-percent tax rate bracket to 15 percent, re-impose the marriage penalty, cut the child tax credit in half, and raise taxes on seniors, working families and small businesses (H.Con.Res. 312).
Mark Kirk believes we should permanently repeal the death tax and marriage penalty, double the child tax credit and cut the capital gains tax.”

Need I go on? The facts show "Republican" Mark Kirk supports the Obama agenda far more often than he opposes, rbmillerjr. A vote for Mark Kirk is a vote to give Obama's socialist agenda "bipartisan" support.
Sure, you can go on a fishing expidition and find a handful of times where Kirk voted the right way, but if that makes Kirk acceptable, then every Democrat member of Congress who also voted the "right" way on Bush's tax cuts deserves our support, even though they oppose us and vote with Obama the other 80% of the time.
Ronald Reagan said a person who is with me 80% of the time is not my enemy. I agree with that statement. And by the same reasoning, a person who is with me 20% of the time is not my friend. Mark Kirk is more liberal than many card-carrying Democrats. Electing another Jim Jeffords and Arlen Specter to to the Senate won't stop the Democrats, it will enpower them. This has already been proven the last time it was tried. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. ·
The only people who fit that description are Kirk supporters, rbmillerjr.
Kirk has shown and even SAID publicly on numerous occasions that he supports the Obama agenda (one of his big campaign issues right now is pledging that he will make Obama's embryonic stem cell exec order into permanent federal law so a future pro-life president couldn't rescind it). He also takes pride in the fact he works against us and has made the fact "he stood up to President Bush and the right wing" a centerpiece of his campaign.
If you support Kirk, you'll let a person who supports the Obama agenda get elected and work against us.
Freepers who both oppose Kirk and Giannoulias, favoring a candidate like Libertarian Mike Labno (or possibly Constitution Party nominee Randy Stufflebeam) reject this approach and will not help a pro-Obama candidate get more votes.
There is no A in the race. Just a couple Fs.
“Need I go on? The facts show “Republican” Mark Kirk supports the Obama agenda far more often than he opposes, rbmillerjr”
If we can’t get a real conservative in, we need to try better next time.
But, really your post is irrelevant. The more conservative of the two guys left is Kirk. Not supporting Kirk is insane unless you want to help prop up Obama’s agenda. Real life is a bitch.
"Real conservative"?
Mark Kirk isn't even a fake conservative; that's how far to the left he is.
As has been stated quite often on FR, this is no longer about merely voting for Republicans or for Democrats, and clinging to such an attitude ensures that the establishment will get its way no matter which way you vote. What this is about, however, is voting for conservatives vs. voting for liberals. If Illinois conservatives pull the lever for the fascist liberal O-bot Kirk, then they should own every liberal statist thing he does when he gets to Washington.
