White House considering emergency economic stimuli
By: Glenn Thrush September 2, 2010 07:04 PM EDT
The Obama administration is mulling a raft of emergency fixes to stimulate the economy before the midterms, including an extension of the research and development tax credit and new infrastructure spending, according to several people familiar with the situation.
Administration officials have been huddling almost continuously during the past week, brainstorming for ideas that would boost employment without hiking the massive federal deficit with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner rushing to the West Wing for further consultations late Thursday.
The White House press office on Thursday refused to say how much a financial package might be, other than to say it wont be a second stimulus. But the administration will have a tough time selling nearly any package to terrified, Obama-phobic Hill Democrats who increasingly blame the president and his ambitious, expensive legislative agenda for their dismal prospects this November.
The meetings, which had Obama huddling with his economic advisers twice in the last seven days, have yielded no specific proposals. But hes given the team a priority: find ways to pay for as many of the ideas, mostly tax breaks, as possible without a deficit increase, an administration official told POLITICO.
The R-and-D tax cut, which Congressional Democrats have already considered would, for example, be paid for by closing overseas corporate loopholes.

I intend to help them...
And this is what we call “buying votes”.
I think they'll get that chance two years from now...
Fail is correct. Not only is 0bama a complete idiot, but also it shows just how unfocused his administration is.
They are considering as the best idea ‘to allow the Bush administration tax cuts for the wealthiest two percent of Americans to lapse while extending the cuts for middle-income people’, not broad enough, middle-income people are still going to hoard their cash
Obama probably figures to take a page from the McCain playbook and declare a patriotic “suspension of the fall campaign season” to figure things out in Washington DC. The emergency could develop enough to declare a suspension of the elections as well.
All of that would now make sense since he is already walking while chewing gum.
Wrecking more lives than drugs and alcohol
The 0bama administration: Focused like a laser beam on jobs.
Did you you hear what a golf pro just said of Obama’s golf during this 2010 Martha’s Vineyard? He still sucks.
The pro gave Zero some tips on how to get out of the sand and that helped. But it lead me to thinking, does no one else care enough to teach him golf? Don't spoil it; I feel good with that thought.
The stock market has been a rigged casino for at least a year now.
Basically just a bunch of computers batting the same few thousand shares back and forth a dozen times a second, all day long.
Its really very simple...Fairtax...Deregulate...
Caddy: " Sorry Mr. President....that wasn't a golf ball that exploded with your extraordinary power drive....you teed up an addled duck egg"
Caddy continues under breath....."and you egged everyting you touched...healthcare...race relations...economy....jobs....oil spill cleanup....
you name it ...you egged it."
Ands before all that;
February 13, 2008 Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 = 110th United States Congress
Free Obama money from his stash, for everyone. Fresh off the presses.
I smell a rat....
Something about this just doesn’t make any sense.
It is September 2nd.
Midterms are in early November.
Thats’ a mere TWO months.
Just how does any federal money get all the way down to the local level in such a way as to influence votes within 8 weeks????
So, do you suppose that they’ve had this totally planned for the last almost 2 years?
That this is a sham “Stimulus 2.0”?
There’s NO way that the public will react favorably to this.
I had no idea that spending could originate in the White House.
And good luck trying to get Dems in the House to vote to spend another gazillion dollars before November.
