A search of John Holdren's book, ECOSCIENCE: POPULATION, & RESOURCES & ENVIRONMENT reveals that Holdren cited "Thomas Malthus" writings about over population on these page: 379, 731, 741, 742, 743, 791, 792, 797, 800, 801, 878, 889, 898, 950, 1017.
The Discovery Channel Hostage Taker apparently cited and follows the views of "Thomas Malthus" as found here in this news link: http://www.mediabistro.com/galleycat/authors/thomas_malthus_reportedly_cited_by_discovery_channel_headquarters_hostage_taker_172485.asp

Maybe Al Gore should be asked to join the negotiation team. I'm sure he can talk some sense in him. ;~)

MSNBC is treating him as an overzealous but consientous protestor. Someone who was driven to this act because he wasn't getting attention to his message of saving the world and not an eco-terrorist.
It makes me gag to think if this was an anti-abortion protestor holding hostages in a an abortion mill or G@d forbide, an protesting Tea Party member. They would forget "the message" and rip them apart, painting ALL as extremists.
Excuse me as I have to leave to bow before the proclein throne

Ismail, more commonly transliterated, Ishmael, is considered the forefather of Islam. His name means Muslim -one who submits. False. Ishmael is the first son of Abraham and it translates to "God has hearkened" from the native Hebrew Yishma'el.

If this guy wasn't so dangerous, he'd be hilarious!
He's a parody of al “millions of degrees” Gore, all the hippie wackos left over and warmed over from the sixties, and the next possible chairman for VHMET!
It's like a script from SNL.
This is what happens to people when they believe anything al “Tommy Flannagan” Gore says.

hmmm...
so, in the “gay” belief system,
the homosexual lifestyle is inherently morally superior to the heterosexuals because procreation is “wrecking what’s left of the planet”.
It’s consistent with everything of the left, upside down and assbackwards.

Mathias had them as positive checks against overpopulation.Malthus didn't apply any moral judgements, he merely observed that when populations get too large, some factor will come along to reduce it, be it starvation, disease, war or whatever.
Malthus was actually an Anglican clergyman as well as an economist, and his theories were heavily criticized by Marx and Engels, among others.

Definitely an raving fan of MSNBC. Afternoon Host Ratigan, the self described "Hairy Hungarian" uses this phrase repeatedly in blaming the Bush years.

Here’s the thing: the left-liberal ruling elite is continuously fretting about how the likes of Beck and Limbaugh will inspire violence, and how that justifies limits on their freedom of speech. That’s their narrative; a narrative that exists only in their imagination. But the objective facts are precisely opposite. The violent non-Islamic wackos are, almost to a man, leftists inspired by the fear and loathing stoked by the left-liberal ruling elite and their useful idiots.
Despite the actual violence directly linked to left

THAT is a thousand times more disturbing than the madman.
This is a whole lot like Islam blaming the US for causing 9/11 because of our policies!
The message here is clear:
“Anyone who STILL believes in Al Gore's hoax is a nutcase.”

Malthus’s theory was right....he was just way off on the numbers. I mean, there is SOME point where you can have more people than there are resources. He was WAY off on his calculations, but where IS the tipping point? 10 Billion? 50 billion? 100 billion? Who knows?
Nobody.

I suspect it would take a force outside the human race to prevent global warfare to cease equalizing the equation long before humanity gets close to the tipping point.
I think the next global war will be very soon.

""Ismail, more commonly transliterated, Ishmael, is considered the forefather of Islam. His name means Muslim -one who submits" My previous post didn't come come correctly, sorry.
I stated that the Arabs consider the Ishmael mentioned in
Bible to be the progenitor of the Arab race.

No, No... You and I are too "bourgeois" to see the Big Message of "Hope" and Change One has to understand when the Greens say to stop "consumption", and "conceiving" and to "conserve", they mean YOU and I, not them. That's why Al Gore is seen as their "spiritual leader" and not a bloated, self-serving, egotistical, hypocritical narcissist.
Maybe one day we will get to be "re-educated " in their lovely camps they have planned for common folks like us.
