A new Quinnipiac poll in New York shows Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D) way ahead of any of her three possible Republican challengers for U.S. Senate.
She beats Bruce Blakeman (R), 44% to 26%, tops David Malpass (R), 45% to 24%, and is ahead of Joseph DioGuardi (R), 43% to 28%.
Said pollster Maurice Carroll: "Who are those guys who want to run against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand? In match-ups, each of the three gets the generic Republican vote. But most voters don't know much about any of them."

The fact that Gillibrand is polling no better than 45% against unknown opponents shows that she isn’t secure and there is a potential opportunity, if the Republican nominee can garner the proper resources.
Wow, the democrats win NY. What a Cinderalla story.
That is true. But I'll vote against Gillibrand. She was somewhat reasonable as a Representative but with the Senate appointment she took a nickle tour with Schumer and swung hard left.
Girl next door ping.
Nope, just shows how stupid NY’ers are. Of course, since 2006 it seems most of the country has joined them.
How pathetic is the NY GOP?
Any incumbent with less than 50% is not secure. The last month of this race really ought to be hectic.
Remember the first Coakley v Brown poll in Mass? Wasn’t he down like 30 ish? They may be in a better starting position than he was. So if the primary winner catches on and has money then who knows what could happen...don’t write it of yet, not this year!
I hope she loses. The Republican replacing her would likely be a dud but her losing could send a message that people are fed up with the endless spenders.
I’ve met Joe DioGuardi. he’s the one we need.
43% in a two-way matchup. Yeaaaaah, that’s safe.
No kidding but I do feel sorry for those in upstate NY who pay taxes up the ying yang for little or no services. All they do is support the libs in NYC.
(There's one thing better than having a beautiful girl next door: Having neighbors who have a beautiful girl next door.)
(by the way, that picture is of DioGuardio's daughter, who also is the judge of American Idol.)
Ahem. Most of NYS is made up of red counties. And even the blue bits Upstate are slowly coming around. What screws Upstate is Downstate. I guarantee you, if Upstate had its own state, it would NOT be blue.
Well, not just the libs in NYC. But the insanely generous fed and state mandates are impoverishing property owners and/or taxpayers. Case in point: approx. 75% of my county's property tax levy goes to meet our Medicaid commitment.
Nor will the voters get to know much about them. The local media will not discuss the issues, and will just ignore the Republican candidates.
Actually, the taxpayers in NYC support everyone else. If NYC was a separate state, it would have a surplus. The revenue you get from the city income tax of 4% on very rich people is enormous.
I know, a friend of mine lives upstate and is clearing out.
Looks like it has come time for NY’ers to clean out the attic or kiss it all goodbye before it sluices down the sewer.
In any case, it's not about the money since it comes with strings (lunatic mandates and giveaways). I know a lot of Upstaters who'd be happy to have our own state and make our own way.
But if you get a chance, please ping me with your source. I live to learn :)
