New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a staunch supporter of the proposed Islamic cultural center and mosque near Ground Zero, recently has been expanding his business dealings in the Arab and Muslim world, including opening a new "Islamic finance portal."
Some critics are questioning whether Bloomberg's unpopular decision to back the controversial mosque project may be colored by his billion-dollar financial software, news and data company's decision to build a hub in the United Arab Emirates and North Africa.
The mayor's privately held company, Bloomberg L.P., has been increasing its revenue in the Middle East while its U.S.-based division has taken hits due to the country's economic woes.
In 2008, Bloomberg announced it was expanding its Dubai office into a regional hub, a move that sought to quadruple its local staff. The new hub will covers Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

‘values’ then, are nothing more than a cover for the most shameful, craven kind of deceit: he’s obviously OK in his own mind with the fatal embrace of HIS fortune being tied
directly to the economic power of our enemies, and both of THOSE being tied to the “best” of AMerican Values.
It’s neatly encapsulated in the title of Rauf’s book and it’s what is REALLY meant by “What’s right with Islam is what’s right with America”. Funny how all that works out, huh, with all these things ‘working together’ so well?\
With information like what Aaron Klein has just provided, Bloomberg should be hooted out of office.
Meanwhile, Pelosi thinks the opposition to the mosque should be investigated.
Has anyone ever seen a Muslim woman on a street in the U.S. simultaneously wearing the hijab and walking a dog?

Of course Bloomberg is tainted by his financial investments with regard to the MURDER MOSQUE, but Bloomberg is a pandering politician who's also afraid of Islamic-fundamentalists, just like the NYT and the WaPo and the rest of the sell-out lamestream.
But I truly can’t understand, since the muslims hate Israel so much, how is it that a guy named Bloomberg can conduct ANY kind of business in UAE? How does he even get his foot in the door?
IMO, there never was any doubt that Mayor Bloomers was in it for the dollars.
He bought his office in the first place, jumping from the dem party to republican for expediency when he felt he couldn’t win a dem primary.
After supporting the effort for term limits he stabbed all those voters in the back when he had the law overturned so he could run for a third term.
I predict that Bloomberg will keep severely silent about Israel...or possibly even start making slightly anti-Israel comments. This should be very interesting to watch.

Customers in a place like the Middle East probably mean next to nothing when cash flow is driven more by political connection.
If ever there were a place to turn favors into cash it is the Middle east. And expansion means more favors.
The old saying still holds: “There is no honor among thieves” and in this case “There is no honor among money hungry zealots.”
If they could, they would steal the penneys of their dead mother’s eyes.
