When President Barack Obama addresses the nation on Iraq tonight, his Oval Office setting will be sporting a brand new look.
While the president and his family were away on vacation in Martha's Vineyard, workers installed new wallpaper, a new rug, new chairs, lamps and a coffee table.
The famous bust of Winston Churchill has been removed and replaced with one of civil rights hero Martin Luther King.
Officials allowed photographers their first look hours before Mr Obama was due to make a speech today.
The rug - a honey-coloured carpet with the the presidential seal - has a border that includes two noted speech excerpts.

Hopefully the next POTUS strips out everything the very first day.
It’s going to take some elbow grease to get all that stink out...
Obama continues th give MOST people in the US and England the FINGER! We need to give Obama the BOOT!
Sharpton on Saturday mentioned Winston Churchill for one thing--for imprisoning a bunch of people in Kenya including Obama's father. That's what Churchill must be remembered for, not for any of that WWII stuff. That is probably why Obama hates Churchill.
The color scheme recalls Saddam Hussein’s palace.
And I’m sure that the childrens’ play equipment outside the window behind the POTUS’ desk lends a distinctly contra-Putin touch when dignitaries visit.
Guess the knee and elbow indentations were beginning to show on the old prayer rug...
my thoughts exactly
Why would he mistakenly want the bust of a republican so close to him?
That looks god awful gaudy.
Rev King would have slapped Barry till his head spun...
Enjoy it Obango while it lasts until 2012!
I thought the removal of Churchill’s bust was a mistake. It was a slap in the face of our ally, and uncalled for. I don’t particularly have a problem with the MLK bust in there.
And when you get right down to it, if this guy is anything like Clinton, when he leaves we won’t have to remove anything. He’ll have stolen it all and scraped the place clean. Anything that is left, will most certainly have to be replaced, because it will have been vandalized to the point it won’t work.
Real classy, these people.
Par for the course. MLK gets his own holiday and the founding father and first president of our country does not.
Looks comfy but why would you want to throw out the bust of the man who was most responsible for defeating the Nazis? Is it a stark difference in ideology or a threat to Obama’s massive ego?
